As today's high inflation pushes Americans to reconsider how, when and where they shop, salvage food stores are gaining traction.
Nicholas Duke, manager of Uplifting Deals in Asheville, N.C., joined "Fox & Friends" on Monday to explain how salvage food stores buy overstock from traditional retailers to then resell in their own stores.
Duke said the existence of "best-by" or "sell-by" dates on items indicates to retailers when to freshen their food stock.
The products, though, are still salvageable.

Awful headline. Could be shorter and more clear:
Amid inflation, salvage food stores that sell dented, dated items for cheap gain traction
vs
Salvage food stores gain traction selling dented, dated items Amid inflation
I like the MUCH more clear:

The one in the town where my brother lives has become jammed with shoppers on Saturdays. Everyone wants a bargain on stale-dated Aunt Jemima chocolate chip muffins.
And bacon. They have a LOT of bacon.

Coming to a state near you.
We prefer the dollar stores......a dollar and a quarter now thanks to brandon.
A lot of stuff way cheaper than a traditional grocery or Walmart.

Pathetic service, I order new laptop they delivered me expired laptop. It’s showing warranty expired one year back only. And performance is very bad. It seems they delivered me used one.
Great old comedy show Sledge Hammer had the detective force a punk at a convenience store robbery to talk by forcing him to eat the food on sale. Moldy, out dated bologna, ham, spoiled chicken salad. He went went crazy and finally gave up.
Biden picture.
You guys can grovel to eat spoiled food and drink rancid beverages. I am the President and I can snap my fingers and get all the oatmeal, Cream of Wheat and anything else I please.
It’s good to be the king. I made up that saying, you know? Mel Brooks heard me say it at a party once.
Can you get botulism from dented cans?
The USDA says that while rare, dented cans can lead to botulism which is a deadly form of food poisoning that attacks the nervous system. Symptoms include double vision, droopy eyelids, trouble swallowing and difficulty breathing. Leaking and bulging cans can also be signs of compromised canned food. from rd.com
How can you tell if a can has botulism?
the container is leaking, bulging, or swollen; the container looks damaged, cracked, or abnormal; the container spurts liquid or foam when opened; or. the food is discolored, moldy, or smells bad.Jun 24, 2022 CDC
Ah, the “used food” store as my children called it.
(Food gains store dented inflation traction dated amid selling salvage items)
I totally hear you bro.
We call the bread outlet “the used bread store.” Their prices are a lot higher than they were two years ago, but still cheaper than Walmart.
For a reason I’ve never learned (and don’t want to ask in case it would make it go away) our local small town grocery store has a rack of Pepperidge Farms bread for 99 cents per loaf. Sometimes there’s nothing there but last time I got seedless rye and hawaiian sweet bread. They also sometimes have hotdog or hamburger buns. They don’t appear to be day-old.
Cheaper than anywhere else for pretty decent quality product.
Yeah, I thought they might have meant an Ollies type store.
I always heard if dented near seal or seam not to use it for whatever itβs worth- makes sense to me
This is why dollar stores are so popular save money, I hit my local 99 cent store fill up my pantry for $50 or less
Shelves have to be cleared for new shipments.
