Kathy Hochul leads Lee Zeldin by 24 points 11 weeks before NY election: poll

Gov. Kathy Hochul has a whopping 24-point lead over Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin with 11 weeks to go before Election Day, according to a new poll released Tuesday.

The incumbent Democrat had 55% support among likely voters in the poll conducted between Aug. 17 and Aug. 22 by SurveyUSA on behalf of WNYT-TV in Albany. Another 31% backed Zeldin and 14% said they were undecided.

There was some good news for Zeldin in the survey, with 33% of voters saying battling inflation was the most important issue when it comes to deciding their vote for governor. Health care and criminal justice reform were a distant second on 12% each.

Interesting thing, I can’t find the actual poll or its methodology anywhere, not at the above or that Albany local news website.

I'm not at all convinced that the polling is really this lopsided. Yeah, Hochul probably wins, but not by double digits.

Simple math

The math is only part of it. The party which can energize its base the most will prevail, even if in the minority. And Democrats have mastered how to energize their base - mostly with lies.

Dems are MUCH more likely to vote than Republicans, in my opinion. That's why in even conservative areas, Dems dominate big city politics. It's low hanging fruit for them.

Too many conservatives are too "principled" to vote for a GOP candidate who is less pure than themselves. Democrats have no such qualms. They just want to keep winning and move their agenda forward incrementally.

NY voter rolls are maniplulated to facilitate fraud. Clean up must be undertaken from the ground up. Won’t happen overnight, if ever.

My county and most NY counties will go for Zeldin. Unfortunately NYS contain large liberal population centers like NYC Albany etc.
