A mountain rescue team has been called up to Britain’s highest mountain to save a dog that refused to go any further.

Maggie, a 35kg Turkish Akbash dog, was unable to continue the descent from Ben Nevis with her owners because her paws were in pain.

The three women walking with the dog had tried carrying her down the 4,413ft mountain but were forced to admit defeat around the halfway mark.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue came to the dog’s rescue on Saturday night, despite already facing multiple callouts for other emergencies.

What foolish people. Didn’t care enough about the pup to invest in dog boots.

I wish nutters would learn to leave their dogs at home. You’re not doing your mutt any favors by dragging it with you everywhere you go. This dog worship needs to stop.

“Idiots”

The rescuers should’ve made the idiot women walk the rest of the way down...barefoot.

I used to take my dog, a 100 pound Rotten Shepherd (more Rott than Shep) on my walks. Not anymore, we'd reach a point (about a mile), where she would stop.

Ever try moving a 100 pound dog that has her mind made up? LOL, she didn't move until I turned around, and started heading home.

She's older now, our usual walks are now about a half mile. She now gets her "aerobics" by stalking the "wild rabbits" that like to frolic in our backyard.

...I am woman,
hear me roar,
In numbers too big
To ignore....

If I have too,
I can do anything

I am strong, I am invincible.

..Time for another daily toxic masculinity rescue

I miss having a dog. Mid to large size; not a nervous yapper.
I have walking problems due to nerve pain in the feet.
Maybe soon, I will be able to hobble around enough to at least take a dog to the Park and let him run loose for a while. That will be one of next year’s resolutions.

We have what we think is a Great Pyrenees mix - at least that is what the shelter told us where we found her. Have no idea what else she is mixed with.

She guards our family with her life - I love walking in the hills with her b/c I feel safe. One time I came upon some sketchy types along the trail - I had my hand on the clasp to unleash her if I needed to. They gave us a wide margin when they passed. I heard later that people were being assaulted and robbed along that very trail.

We’ve always said she knows she is a rescue and guards us and our home accordingly.

I had a pit that would do that in his later years. He’d just stop. He was fine when we turned around and walked back. It took 2 plus miles to get him to that point. This was walking in the woods, in moderate temps. He just had a half-way point, and he wasn’t going one step more.

I actually know a lefty woman who takes her dogs on excessive hikes actually injuring the dog so that it requires surgeries. It's amazing how stupid some people are.

Every morning I would see an elderly lady in her electric service cart walking her very old golden retriever, just inching along. Every so often she would stop and let her dog lie down and rest. I don't think they went far, maybe a block and back.

I always enjoyed seeing them together but it was also sad since I could tell that each time I saw them together, it might be the last. I haven't seen her since last summer....... :(

Stupid gits. What if it had been a 35-lb child? Couldn't they make a drag stretcher from sticks and a shirt or backpack? I guess no one went to Girl Guides.

Oh, thanks. That is quite a difference — 77 lbs.

Never mind! (still might have made a sled, though, with sticks, etc)
