2001? A wrinkle in time? I, Robot?
What are the best science for books in your opinion?
Dune
Foundation
Stranger in a Strange Land
I have a time coming up with the three best SF authors.
Who can be left out?
Will Smith is like Keanu reeves......not entertaining......to me anyway.
Lords of Light, A Canticle for Leibowitz, A Scanner Darkly
1. Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov
2. I, Robot by Isaac Asimov
3. Noumenon by Marina J. Lostetter
We eagerly awaited the release of the movie Dune. It was a severe disappointment.
And pretty much anything by Larry Nivan, like Ringworld"
Best answer. I am partial to the Crazy Eddie stories however.
I grew up watching the TV show....the movie failed miserably in comparison.
I bet we can agree one 007 related thing though.....the Roger Moore ones were cringe worthy.
CAN I GET AN AMEN??!!!

Proof she was not just a Witch World fantasy authoress.
Mote in God’s Eye
While I enjoyed most of the books that were mentioned previously, I will add Hyperion by Dan Simmons.
If I go by what I have reread the most, even then it is tough to come up with a top three. But. . .
Heinlein Moon is a Harsh Mistress (although Friday gets about as many rereads).
Card Ender’s Game
Niven Mote in God’s Eye
If you incude “series” -
Asimov Foundation
Heinlein Future History
Niven Known Space
Does Adams Hitchhiker count as SciFi?
And if you include Hitchhiker, do you also include Harrison’s Stainless Steel Rat?
As for most recent reread in order -
The Martian
Card Shadow of the Giant
Card Shadow Puppets
Card Shadow of the Hegemon
Card Ender’s Shadow
Card Ender’s Game
Niven Smoke Ring
Niven Intefral Trees
Niven Destiny’s Road
Niven Gripping Hand
Niven Mote
Heinlein Friday
I think that’s it for this year.
Time enough for love
The moon is a harsh mistress
Stranger in a strange land
Ha. His movies have a little bit of campy charm to it. 😎
1984
George Orwell’s “1984” would be at the top....but its now moved to Non-Fiction....
“Science Fiction is often best read as an adolescent and therefore some of the most memorable and significant works in a readers lifelong list are going to be less than undying adult literature. That does not mean they aren’t great but just when comparing them to other genre you have a disconnect.
I’ve wondered about that before... rereading some of my favorites was oddly disappointing. Thanks for the insight. That said, The Weapon Shops Series by A.E. van Vogt aged better than many...”
Already posted my top 3 but agree with those comments
Two stories I do find myself rereading are “A Road Not Taken” by Harry Turtledove, a novella at best in length, but has a very different premise for first contact, don’t think I have ever seen it elsewhere; “The Dragon Masters” by Jack Vance, I just seem to like the story and the main character particularly.
But I would not put either in the top 3.
