a better general rule is, never eat after dark.
I have a sure fire 100% guaranteed way to lose weight. Consume less calories than you burn. Eat once a day, or 20 times a day — doesn’t matter. Follow the rule above and you’ll lose weight.
I might have to go that route.
Last Friday the surgeon sandbagged me again with another delay the morning of my appointment.
Lose 40 pounds and see you in November.
Not once in my prior visits in the months before did he mention dropping so much fairly quickly to rate being seen again.
Since Saturday I have cut calories even more, heavy on the water, biolyte and now green tea. Only gluten free food going forward instead of every so often.
Every morning up at 5, hike the backyard for at least 45 minutes with ankle weights before heading to the job. Figure out more of a routine as I go.
I have a second opinion visit in early September with someone I kind of know and wouldn’t give me a song and dance with a gentle brush off. A real answer or two would go a long way with me. Getting the goalposts moved every time I see this guy gets really frustrating. Prozac helps.
Everyone else in medical land I’ve interacted with hasn’t had any objections.
be careful with green tea and liver. no idea how much it takes to cause a problem but is listed as problematic
I treat that stuff with some caution.
At least it isn’t extract.
Round and round with this surgeon has caused me to be open to more rational diet plans.
Starvation isn’t one.
I've lost 40 pounds over the past two and a half years by limiting my calories to 1800 to 2000 calories a day along with 16-hour intermittent fasting.
Yep. Our bodies are not all like. We need to be OPEN to ideas, try things, and find out what works for us as individuals. Wish more doctors would admit it...

My friend with psoriasis lives near the beach, The sun and salt water clear it up. But high dose Vitamin D3 should do the same. 20000 units daily along with K2 and magnesium supplement
If it weighed 14 pounds, yes.
I never did figure out what those Brits were talking about with those stones as a unit of measurement. I thought they were referring to a loaf of their bread.
Skipping dinner every day oughtta help. Not clever or particularly wise diet advice.
I think Roger must weight more than 14 pounds, but this still seems like a good idea for Newsmax.
It makes it easier to for us to use Keto in conjunction with intermittent fasting. Keto helps kill the appetite.
I started the Keto routine about 10 years ago as the high carb diet pushed by cardio docs wasn’t working for me.
My wife has basically been Keto, fresh fruits and veggies for about 2 decades. She lost about 20 pounds and weighs the same as she did when we got married 61 years ago.
I lost 12-15 pounds on her plan and my keto diet, and I have maintained my new weight for 2+ decades.
If I pick up a couple of pounds, the twice a day routine minimizes any gain in about 5-7 days.
We are trending towards a 11-12 am brunch and a 6-7 pm keto dinner about twice a week.
I still wear and fit into clothes that I wore at age 56, when I retired.
Her post hip replacement PT has firmed her body from her waist to her lower legs. She is now able to fit into clothes from a decade + with basically her same preop weight.
Hmmm.
When I "eat what I want", I don't lose 9 pounds.
Wow! Impressive!
Thanks to a great wife, good DNA and two good foot surgeons:
I still can walk a mile a day with the walking sticks and basically stay the same weight and size in clothing for the last 2+ decades.
No heavy duty pain pills, just topical Voltaren Gel in the morning and at bedtime and one Advil after dinner.
My wife and I are easing into the two meals a day with healthy snacks~fresh fruit and mixed nuts whenever we want them.
So intermittent fasting works. Woop dee doo.
Like all calorie restriction diets, the problem is in maintaining the restriction over time. If you are on the high-carb hamster wheel, you are gong to feel really hungry when the glucose spike turns into an insulin spike. It takes a incredible self discipline to not eat for those 16 hours when your body cries out for more food day after day.
What they need to do is recommend a low carb/high fat diet to help sustain through the fasting periods. If I cheat on the carbs I may have a day where I have to fight the urge to break the fasting period. I can do that on occasion, but I couldn’t do that every day, nor can most people and that is why most diets fail.
Thanks. Will give it a try. Sun and ocean definitely helps.
