Olivia Newton-John died "peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends," according to an Instagram post shared by her family. She was 73.
"We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time. Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer."
The Australian singer was known just as much for her top hits, including "Physical" and "You're the One That I Want," as she was for her starring role alongside John Travolta in the classic film, "Grease."

Wonder if that had something to do with her early demise.
Very sad. Too young but she put up a good, courageous fight. RIP.
Very Sad
I saw a story that said she fought breast cancer for almost 40 years.
So did my thirteen year old son. Actually, I think every young kid did at that time.
Yeah, that voice + teenage hormones.
Old kids, too.
I doubt she was “strung out on drugs” at any point. I’ve followed her career since the 1970s and have all her albums. She did do some marijuana toward the end of her life (overseen by her husband) to help with the cancer pain. RIP.
I think she had cancer.
She campaigned for medical cannabis in Australia, as she said it was one of the only things that kept her functional during her cancer treatments.
She said in more than one interview, she’d rather be high than nauseous and in pain.
Goodbye Olivia. Thanks for the wonderful singing.
Her daughter is going to have a rough time adjusting, as we all must do when a parent dies.
If the marijuana helped her, that is a good thing. God bless her.
One of the most beautiful women ever.
Huge fan here. Met her 3 times. Saw her many times in concert. I have some of her shoes which she auctioned off for charity a couple of years ago now. I’m in shock and saddened. RIP sweet lady.
No!
I saw her in concert in MN.
Sad....
I am kind of amazed she was able to battle breast cancer that long and live that long if that is what ended up killing her.
LOVED the dance she did with an aged Gene Kelly in Xanadu. Hated the movie, but loved Gene and Olivia.
Yep. My teenage, and later, heart throb. Had dozens of her posters in my room as a kid.
