The Romans were no more good or evil than any group that has ever walked the Earth.

Nazi Germany was Imperial Rome with tanks and aircraft.

Some was poetry in theaters, some go-prose?

How would have Rome behaved with tanks and aircraft? Would it really have been all that different than blitzkrieg?

Perhaps we should ask the people who lived in Romania before Rome decided it would be a good place, a Lebensraum, to put all its retired military, after those pesky natives were removed?

As a lifelong lover of history-especially ancient History-as well as plenty of study in college, when REAL, un PC history was taught by real professors-just no-but that is only my opinion...

If you check out the details of political and battle strategies of both the empires and the wannabees of that time-the various Germanic tribes whose ancestors came from places all the way to Scandinavia-as well as Attila and his bunch-were far more into rape, slavery and killing of those from other ethnic groups, as well as stealing all their stuff-and less tolerant than the Romans from the gitgo. They proved it by trashing and ending the Roman Empire-as the Saxons took over Britain for the most part-then there were the Vikings, who did it again a couple of centuries later, etc.

If you look at their history of conquest, you might suspect there is something in the DNA of the ethnic groups who own Germanic/Teutonic ancestry that drives them to pursue absolute subjugation/domination of everyone they cross paths with-I think there is something to that. Asians-the Chinese in particular-seem to have that trait, too, even though they are a different race...

The Nazis don’t appear to be the absolute worst, historically speaking-they were one of them-totally evil-but since they were the most recent and infamous, and we don’t have liberals running around calling everyone who is in disagreement with them Saxons, berserkers, Goths/Visigoths, etc-instead, liberals run around screaming Nazi at everyone they want to demonize...

Quite the contrary, they protect vandals!

Yes-they do protect the modern version of vandals-but I doubt that there are many liberals who have any idea what a real, historically-correct Vandal was, where they came from or what they really did and to whom-unless they went to private school-a consequence of our inadequate public school system...

For most Romans, nightlife consisted of drinking and gambling in the local tavern. But for members of the elite, it could be an epic progress from mansion to mansion and party to party, sometimes with a few dive bars between.

IOW, the same Nazi comparison can be applied to every country or city-state that ever sent an army anywhere.
