How abortion laws impact people trying to become pregnant

All Sharon McRae and her husband wanted were to be parents, but it took terminating embryos to get there, she said.

The Columbia, Maryland, couple were thrilled when she quickly became pregnant, but about nine and a half weeks in, she miscarried. It was devastating, but the doctor said it happens. They tried again.

She would have three more consecutive miscarriages, which required a procedure called dilation and curettage, often called a D&C, to remove the tissue, before fertility specialists found the right combination of treatments for her, which included in vitro fertilization.

For her fifth pregnancy, McRae and her doctors wanted to increase the odds that she would have a child. They fertilized multiple eggs, selected the four with the best chances of making it to term, and implanted them in hopes of at least one fetus developing successfully, she said.

They all took.

Four high-risk pregnancy specialists told McRae there was no way she and all four fetuses would survive the pregnancy. They had to selectively abort two of the fetuses to preserve the chances of her and the other two surviving. After all that time and heartbreak, terminating two of the fetuses was one of the hardest things she ever had to go through, but she went through with the procedure.

Twenty-three years ago, she gave birth to twin daughters. Three years later, that first in vitro process helped her get pregnant with her son. She would go through it all again to have them, she said.

Allow me to translate this to you all.

Almost every time they do this? IVF treatment? They put in more embryos than needed in hopes that one will implant. Sometimes none take but sometimes more than one implant. When this happens they have to kill some of the babies.

Remember Octomom? She had 12 embryos incerted at once and 8 implanted and she refused abortion. She took her life into her own hands but she proved it could work.

Most fertilized embryos never implant in the uterus or spontaneously abort before a woman ever knows she is pregnant.

They shouldn’t fertilize more embryos than they plan to implant. And they shouldn’t implant more than the mother can carry to term.

‘IVF is all about snoring extra embryos. It is a horrific evil process.’

IVF is evil and will end when doctors and administrators of IVF clinics, as well as the parents of stored embryos are held responsible for the babies they abort when discarding the pre-born babies that are stored in clinics.

My niece was born that way. My SIL miscarried about five times before they went IVF.
How again is it an evil horrific process.
Her name is Lily, by the way. She’s twelve.
Should she not be here? I’m just curious.

“Even our local TV news has been infected with this PC garbage.”

I spent a career in various companies, often near the seats of power. Those people, down in the bowels of corporations, HR, managers, etc. are terrified of making a mistake. Therefore, they err on the side of caution...sometimes extreme caution. They glance up at the news while eating and think, “Oh, some company got in trouble for calling a woman a woman. Weird, but tomorrow I’d better issue an edict dictating that from now all references to women will substitute...what did they say? Oh, yeah, person.”

It’s not that they are trying to be PC. It’s that they’re trying to never, ever make a mistake. Thus, they see the news and take whatever action the news indicates is preferable if they want the company to never be in the news. The only time a company wants to be in the news is after fifteen people have looked at and edited a press release. (Having often been the originator of the press release I almost always read the release and groaned in pain as it failed to get across the key points.)

Our society buries and won’t talk about why so many women have miscarriages these days.

Many birth control methods and previous abortion have a significant role in the future inability to get pregnant. aka miscarriages triggered from internal damages that are anything but gods plan for the woman.

Wonder why ?

While I did not read the entire tale, I strongly suspect it is another, scare the crap out of the Low Information Voter tale of woe.

Since the Supreme Court DID NOT outlaw abortion in any way shape or form. They simply over-ruled a bad Court decision and now the abortion question must be handled by the various states.

Since this particular story takes place in Massachusetts and Maryland, both of which, I understand have abortion laws & regulations that border on infanticide, I kinda suspect it might rate up there with the 10 year old rape victim from Ohio.

How again is it an evil horrific process.

Someone summed it up well:

They shouldn’t fertilize more embryos than they plan to implant. And they shouldn’t implant more than the mother can carry to term.

Any violation of the above is evil and horrific, because embryos are human beings. The process without the violations can be viewed as reverent cooperation with God in a process we have no way of understanding as mere human beings.

And thanks be to God for Lily.

Fortunately, God turns great evils into good. So it’s not surprising that beautiful and beloved children can be the direct result of an immoral action.

IVF is evil because (among other reasons) the murder of innocent children that accompanies it, which the article alludes to.

I don't think so, because there's still the matter of how the seed is procured, which involves a grave violation of sexual morality.

I agree. My daughter had two IVF pregnancies. I was uncomfortable with the idea, but they took a conservative approach by fertilizing only 4 eggs. Two were implanted for her first pregnancy. They lost one but my wonderful granddaughter was the second. Two were implanted for the next pregnancy and my cute grandson was born.

Fertilizing and implanting scads of eggs basically turns IVF into a manufacturing process where you try to find the Economic Order Quantity. And, of course, the baby becomes a product instead of a person.

I love my grandchildren but I still have reservations about IVF.

A question. How many embryos were implanted and how many were aborted because some appeared more viable than others? Putting a name to the survivor of the process is irrelevant.

In most cases, of course. But from this link from Human Life International (https://www.hli.org/resources/in-vitro-fertilization-ethical-issues/), it looks as if it's possible to avoid each of the violations in the process by taking special measures.

Far simpler and surprisingly effective is the Natural Family Planning strategy--since 99 percent of success in this arena is timing. (And prayer.)
