Do you think this guy was murdered?
Cops must be taught to “Spray and Pray” when they shoot. No reason to empty your magazine. Then again, cops were never good shots to start with.
I do not see it as possibly being murder when he fired on police, first.
I see it as properly dispatching an active threat.
If the guy was running from cops two days in a row, is he really a “victim”, or a career criminal?
Six officers, ten rounds each at the same time? No, it's shooting to stop the threat.
If the 9mm won't do it in fewer rounds, go up to .45, 10mm, or 12 gauge.
That’s the same sort of twisted logic that BLM and other groups used when they claimed that “Silence is violence”, etc.
Nothing convoluted about it. I just bother to pay attention to what happens:
Cops can kill an unarmed man in his underwear begging for his life:

Cops can kill a man who is complying in the back:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Ryan_Whitaker
Cops can kill a woman who’s looking out her window to see what all the noise is, a woman they were sent to see if she was OK:

Cops can shoot a man (luckily this one lived) lying on the ground with his hands in the air:

Anybody who thinks the cops can’t find a reason to shoot THEM is the moron.
Oh look “try and kill”, congratulations, you just admitted it’s MURDER. You’re not supposed to be trying to kill while defending yourself.
Another article said that he was wearing a ski mask while getting out of his car and running. Need new measures these days to prevent criminals from getting away with what they do. It’s all a game to them.
You truly stupid person. Shoot at a LEO and they will return fire with intent to neutralize, I e kill, the shooter. In any armed confrontation when shots are fired return fire should be meant to kill. In a gunfight the object is to kill not disable the other shooter.
I do not not know the nuances of Ohio law, but generally that is true only to the extent that the State can prove beyond reasonable doubt:
1. At a time when the deceased was not mortally wounded, he unequivocally ceased the behavior which had given rise to the lawful use of force,
2. The officer(s) you plan to charge with murder were consciously aware that the deceased no longer posed a threat,
3. The officer(s) you plan to charge with murder made a conscious decision to continue to shoot the deceased, knowing that they were not legally justified in doing so, and
4. The injuries inflicted by the officer(s) you plan to charge with murder caused the death of the deceased.
If you can cite Ohio case law that transmutes an injury to corpse into a murder, I would be glad to read it.
Stop making excuses for criminals that don’t follow lawful commands.
I heard this morning that the coroner counted 60 bullet holes. I assume some of them came from the same bullet, so it’s likely that he was actually hit with fewer than 60 bullets. Still ... a lot. He probably should have been quicker to obey the officers’ orders.
In case, you haven't notice, the murder and violent crime rates are exploding because police are afraid to do proactive police work.
I assume you don't live in one of the many cities with record high murder rates or you wouldn't be taking the position you are.
How can they justify shooting one person 60 times??
“He was engaged in criminal activity and shot at the police. He got what was coming to him. But of course the black community believes the Law doesn’t apply to them and that any excuse to riot and loot is justified.”
This!!!
I have ZERO sympathy for criminals the refuse to follow lawful police commands.
It's your attitude that has resulted in murder and violent crime rates we haven't seen since at least the 1970s.
Low crime and murder rates or making victims out of scumbags that refuse to follow lawful police commands. I'll take the former.
I haven’t said anything about racism. Cops shoot too many people. Period.
Shooting people isn’t proactive police work. Protect and serve is proactive police work. And we’ve just had yet another court case, not to mention a live demonstration in Uvale, that they are not obligated to do that, and are not interested.
If you’re counting on cops for protection you’re not paying attention. They are not only not interested, they might shoot you.
I made no excuses for criminals. I’m pointing out that 60 shots is overkill and murder. Why do we spend all that money training them only to expect no self control?
Still, the perception among many whites is that a large percentage of blacks are hostile, and that there doesn’t seem much enthusiasm among the rest for pushing back against the hostility.
Compare that to the number of white people who marched for black civil rights and who speak out against racism.
It thus becomes natural for many whites to assume hostility until otherwise demonstrated.
And it then logically follows for white people to ask themselves “why should I be in favor of people who wish me harm (or at least will stand aside and not offer opposition to those who do) attaining any sort of power over me and my loved ones?”
