JERUSALEM – In a series of highly unusual actions, the U.S. State Department and world leaders waded into the bitterly contentious domestic dispute over Friday's Supreme Court’s ruling on abortion.
"As Secretary of State, I usually avoid commenting on Supreme Court rulings," America’s top diplomat Antony Blinken announced in a statement.
"But today’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade has raised understandable questions and concerns across the world and within our [the Department of State’s] workforce."
Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, also took the Supreme Court to task for its ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson’s Women’s Health Organization.
"The Supreme Court has taken away the established, fundamental, constitutional right to abortion from millions of Americans. This is a cruel, dark and dangerous decision," Thomas-Greenfield said. "What makes this decision so heartbreaking is that Americans had a clear and unequivocal constitutional right stripped away.
"Roe v. Wade not only protected the right to privacy, it also reaffirmed basic principles of gender equality. … I have traveled the globe advocating for women’s rights. Now, this decision renders my own country an outlier among developed nations in the world."
The rapid-fire moves by American diplomats to attack the nation’s top judicial body has raised alarm bells among commentators that this is a second act of President Barack Obama’s "apology tour" and an expression of homegrown anti-Americanism.

Why would another country care?
Let the World be damned; abortion is the killing of innocent children.
The wave of exploding heads goes global.
F THEM.
Well I gave that question some thought and I think it’s because many of their abortion laws are very strict. Ours were up till birth unlike theirs. They were coming to America for a late term abortion. that is no more.
They can stuff it.
With “allies” like that who needs enemies?
Why should we care what another country thinks?
Our abortion laws are still far more lenient than in Europe, where the latest you can have a legal abortion in most of those countries is 18 weeks.
Allies? You mean Soros/Schwab acolytes of Satan.
"understandable" according to who?
It is not the job of the US to please the world.
It is not the world's job to dictate the actions of US internal affairs that are not crimes against humanity.
.
Why would other world leaders come out so vocally against this ruling-when it has nothing to do with them personally, or the citizens of their countries?
I believe they support abortion as a sort of human sacrifice, because they worship satan.
It’s not as if the U.S. has made abortion illegal. They’ll always have “abortion destinations” like California.
Nice company to be in.
Glad not to be there any longer.
It is bizarre to have our own diplomats criticizing our Judiciary.
Maybe they need a short course on our constitution.
How many here trust every word Blinken says and have backed his anti-Russian strategy in Ukraine going back to when he was in the Obama administration? Dozens, sadly enough.
Democrats are always afraid of the democratic process. They rather an small, unelected and unaccountable select rule us.
Giving the voters a choice is “undemocratic”
