What would it look like if America split? Is it possible for the United States of America to separate into two countries in less than fifty years?

The overwhelming evidence present in the public domain today strongly suggests that the United States of America will separate into two countries in less than fifty years.

Here is the scenario concept. The conservative and progressive sides of America today see each other as a lifeguard and a drowning victim. Neither side will keep the other from drowning when push comes to shove. The only option is for the lifeguard to let go of the drowning victim. This event is the physical separation. The conceptual separation has been playing out for about three decades.

The topics of abortion, gun rights, balanced budgets, central bank digital currencies, immigration, and free speech, either alone or together, can all be set aside with assurance they are not the reasons for the pending dissolution of the country. The single reason for the U.S. going into parts is free choice.

The U.S. will not change to a bordered country such as the Soviet Union, since geography has 50% of its border bound by water and the other 50% absent of both a northern and southern border. Ask Canada and Mexico how immigration control is going for them lately. It is unlikely there will be mass deporting of citizens due to the risk of those deported coming back with a vengeance, helped by whatever country accepts them. Ask Germany and Russia how that worked out for them during World War II.

A recent venture capitalist article indicates how geography, demographics, and capitalism intersect to likely help form the two new countries.

A country needs two tangible components to survive: trade and defense. Trade for all material things necessary to exist in both war and peace. Defense for continuance during and after an armed conflict.

Since America began with 13 colonies, like Christ and His 12 disciples..
And grew to 50 states, like the 50 that marks Pentecost, there is a scenario where it does split..

But maybe not into 5-6 confederations of states, but into 7.
Like the 7 churches of Revelation..

America is a prophetic nation and what happens here, has a prophetic connection to the New Covenant foundation and Church..
Even when the likes of Biden are installed..

Agree completely, with the coasts being heavily dependent on the new middle NA.

Essentially Denver westward to the sea, Arizona eastward to Southern VA. Eastern Maine and NY west to Eastern Colorado.

Robert Heinlein the prescient future historian (prophet) predicted I believe 4 new countries. The largest was Texas and included lands north of the State of Texas and the Missippi river valley east

Its kind of happening already. And goes in waves depending how the pendulum swings.
Only stupid, lazy (welfare sucks) and or criminal type people would reside in high crime urban areas.
The smarter, working law abiding ones move to the suburbs or beyond.

How do you secede? Every State has blue and red areas. It wouldn’t be contiguous like The Confederacy.

Taking Missouri as an example for discussion, if they seceded, the cities of Kansas City and St. Louis would be the only liberal enclaves. But as it also turns out, they each border other states, so you might see a scenario where those cities would join neighboring states. Or, it might be that the liberal residents of those cities would find it necessary to flee in order to maintain their government handouts.

If the South had been allowed to peacefully secede in 1860, it would have been gobbled up by France and Great Britain.

This sounds like an interesting story. Pray tell how the southern states would have been gobbled up by France and Great Britain.

The remainder of us, “Americans,” would be shadows of former selves, nominally a country but held in economic bondage by the global financial, cultural and governmental entities.

I think you have it exactly backwards. We are currently, right now, "held in economic bondageby the global financial, cultural and governmental entities."

Without Washington DC imposing these conditions, they would not exist. We would be energy independent and food independent. What would the global elites be able to do to us other than starting a war against us?

As I understand it, the constitution has provisions for adding new states, but no provision for states to leave the union.

Why would they need to put that into the constitution when they had just written and signed the Declaration of Independence 11 years earlier?

It states unequivocally that it is a *RIGHT* for states to secede.

The constitution did not need to say anything about the issue because everything was already said in the Declaration of Independence.

The map at the article shows a hole in the southeastern US. That would be caused by Stacy Abrams becoming governor and eating most of the state of Georgia.

This article starts with what the author sees as an inevitability, but goes nowhere. No thoughts about how the divide would happen, along what lines, etc. No comparisons to, say, India, which partitioned Pakistan, or North and South Korea, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, the divisions in Sudan or Rwanda, or any of the other separations in world events.

Not one of those separations was peaceful. Each resulted in conflicts which took the lives of thousands or hundreds of thousands or, in the case of India/Pakistan, millions of people.
