Covid sufferers who caught the Omicron variant will not be protected from catching it again, according to scientists at Imperial College London.
The investigators say Omicron and its evolutions could explain why Covid cases remain higher than predicted in the UK.
Earlier studies found that past illnesses with Covid provided some immunity against re-infection - but the latest research indicates that is not the case with the Omicron variant, The Telegraph reports.
Prof Danny Altmann from the Imperial College's Department of Immunology and Inflammation, said: 'The message is a little bleak. Omicron and its variants are great at breakthroughs but bad at inducing immunity, thus we get reinfections ad nauseum and a badly depleted workforce.
'Not only can it break through vaccine defences, it looks to leave very few of the hallmarks we'd expect on the immune system.
'It's more stealthy than previous variants and flies under the radar, so the immune system is unable to remember it.'
Researchers have been attempting to understand why people become reinfected with omicron, often soon after recovering from a previous spell of the disease.
Blood samples were collected from UK healthcare workers who were triple-vaccinated and with different infection patterns with Covid in order to understand antibody, T and B cell immunity.
The research uncovered that among those who were triple-vaccinated with no past infection, Omicron provided an immunity boost against earlier variants such as alpha, beta, gamma and the original ancestral strain - but practically none against Omicron itself.

Nope. 50K is a typical flu year in the US.
it’s a head cold.
Typical. You did not read what I wrote. The only reason covid overtook the Spanish flu, is that the world population has increased by a factor of 4 since 1918.
That’s a valid factor. Certainly not a typical flu.
Factoid, H1N1 is still included in yearly flu shots.

Clearly, this is addressing ‘natural immunity’ not the vaccines.
S’why I haven’t stopped rigidly self-administering the Zelenko protocol, despite having had the Omicron variant (which the Zelenko treatment protocol cured in less than 48 hours).
It looks to me that the vax leaves you with a damaged immune system, and so the vax’d wind up getting reinfected again and again.
Or the common cold.🤔
The clot shot does no good and actually weakens the immune system. We know that natural immunity allows the body to recognize a wide range of variants, but the clot shot results in a very limited response that quickly wanes. The more shots you get, the more likely you are to get sick from some trivial variation of the virus.
The problem is if someone dies with wu-flu they were considered to have died of wu-flu.🙄
“In 2020 there was no defense. New England was smashed, meaning the old folks there. 1000s of Covid dead per day.”
Patently false. at peak deaths reported in or around April 2020, Massachusetts averaged 150 deaths a day. RI 20, NH 20. Didnt bother to look at VT or ME. At most in New England 250 a day tops. Nice try.
I used worldometer if your wondering where info from
You may be right and I phrased it differently. If you scroll down to the national death curve for Spring 2020 you’ll see 2500ish dead per day. My recall was concentration in New England because it had not spread yet. Maybe it had.
Clearly 1000s of dead per day, but nationally. The locale wasn’t really important to the point, which was total lack of defense.
Covid is morphing into another flu.
We get vaxxed for flu AND get sick with flu, and the damn virus morphs enough to infect us again year after year.
Memo to all Freepers....OHPatriot is 100% correct. Please follow his advice. The longer every Freeper lives in good health, more the benefits to all of us who do not vote democrat.
I am totally in shock how good I feel at age 82. And all I do is 15 minute treadmill set at brisk walking pace with 1 lb weights strapped on each wrist which I swing around to maintain upper body flexibility. And then I do 30 pulls on the weight machine, which is set so I can easily pull the weights without any injury to muscles or tendons.
*PING* to the girls.
As front line doctors and others have predicted, original antigenic sin:
The research uncovered that among those who were triple-vaccinated with no past infection, Omicron provided an immunity boost against earlier variants such as alpha, beta, gamma and the original ancestral strain - but practically none against Omicron itself.
No. It’s called “Original Antigenic Sin” and had been predicted by those honest scientists you pro-jab trolls like to dismiss as quacks.
You're a bald faced liar.
The “continual rise in cases” has much more to do with the continuing, irrational testing of healthy people than from anything else ... including the damage done to peoples’ once-effective immune systems by the Fauci Flu “vaccines” ... especially in children.

If you had read the article, you would have found this:
“Covid sufferers who caught the Omicron variant will not be protected from catching it again, according to scientists at Imperial College London.”
“The investigators say Omicron and its evolutions could explain why Covid cases remain higher than predicted in the UK.”
“Earlier studies found that past illnesses with Covid provided some immunity against re-infection - but the latest research indicates that is not the case with the Omicron variant, The Telegraph reports.”
You must mean the Telegraph is a liar.
No. You’re a liar.
You said it was about natural immunity.
I gave you a direct quote from the source talking about lack of immunity among the triple-jabbed.
You chose...poorly.
