Lemon Pickers Needed”, read the ad in the newspaper. Ms. Sally Mulligan of Coral Springs, Florida, read it and decided to apply for one of the jobs that most Americans are not willing to do.
She submitted her application for a job in a Florida lemon grove but seemed far too qualified for the job. She has a liberal arts degree from the University of Michigan, and a master’s degree from Michigan State University. For a number of years, she had worked as a social worker, and also as a school teacher.
The foreman studied her application, frowned, and said, "I see that you are well educated, and have an impressive resume. “However, I have to ask you, have you had any actual experience in picking lemons?”
"Well, as a matter of fact, I have," she said. "I've been divorced three times, owned two Chrysler's, voted twice for Obama, once for Hillary, and most recently for Biden.”
She started work yesterday.
God bless
That is great. That’s funny right there, and I don’t care who you are. Best Friday nite post today.
Thanks
I thought they had automatic lemon pickers now.
Made by Dominion.
Ponderous!
ROFL!!!
Aren’t people tired of the lie “jobs that most Americans are not willing to do”? This BS only feeds on dissing Americans and promoting illegals and cheap foreign labor.
Have you looked at the recent restaurants lately. Nobody wants to work especially for the wages at restaurants. A lot of places have to close on Monday to the lack of staff. During Covid they gave you extra money for unemployment but those days are long gone. Not sure how people are living. But maybe they all have better jobs. This is definitely a job seeker environment right now.
Bigfoot harvesting lemons!!
Heh
That may be the case in coffee shops, but in high end restaurants, the servers are doing pretty well. Ppl with money are spending freely.
“This is definitely a job seeker environment right now.”
Not for me. I haven’t had a job since October 2018, because whenever I have applied for a job, I’m told I am overqualified, which may also mean I am too old. Four decades of work experience, good health and good work habits is worthless, when the employers would rather hire someone thirty years younger than me, and pay him/her an entry level salary.
I keep wondering where the people are? Two years ago the job market was tight with some help wanted signs. Now business after business has closed or severely
curtailed hours because because of lack of staffing.
Have we returned nationally to the parent at home family? Did many more working aged die? Where are they?
I was driving through Ohio this past week and a young man {30-40} was standing at a red light holding a sign that stated, "Help wanted" begging for money.
The irony of that sign was too much, because there were three business on that corner with "help wanted" signs.
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, good grief.
Great story. LOL!
Thanks.
I have noticed that my humor threads - very quickly turn into serious discussions.
Very depressing;(

Do you know how to do to value stream mapping?
When I wanted to get a job at great companies and no high-paying jobs were available, I just wanted to get my foot in the door. Back when WordPerfect was DOS, you could assign any three-character extension you wanted.
My foot-in-the door ticket was “resume.duh” and totally pared down so it wasn’t obvious I was over qualified. Once in, I worked my ass off and was promoted quickly in companies like GE.
Those were times when it was to my advantage to NOT have a college degree. I had only “attended” college. Because of human nature it was hard to minimize accomplishments, but in the end it “paid off” (so to speak).
Ponderosa or Rough lemons?
I never had any trouble with Chryslers.... Until Benz started messing with em.
