Ahem:
You were saying?
MANY of us predicted they wouldn't last half a season before pandering to SJWs AGAIN, and the latest KurtzmanTrek offering did not disappoint! They simply can't help themselves. Incidentally, this isn't even "bold" and "groundbreaking" by their OWN standards, as Star Trek Discovery literally just introduced a "non-binary character" played a real life "non-binary" freak a few months ago. You'd think they'd at least do the mininimum "twist" this time around and insert some OTHER trendy "modern" sexual identity like "openly pansexual character" or "openly genderfluid officer" (with an "actor" who identifies as such in real life and just plays themselves on screen). They're not even TRYING anymore, it's lather, rinse, repeat over at CBS.
>> ..Captain Pike's catch-phrase is....HIT IT! I think they stole it from me.... <<
Pike's "catchphrase" in the JJ movies (which were ALSO written by Alex Kurtzman) was the very similar sounding but slightly cooler "Punch It!", so in this case, Kurtzman is simply ripping off himself (and is also doing so when he invents a "non-binary" character after doing the exact same thing on STD a few months ago)
I’m shocked, shocked.
So, did you watch the latest episode? Where a ‘counselor’ comes on board and convinces them to go to the rescue of people in non-federation space. Turns out it was a pirate captain “Angel” wanting to capture Spock and the Enterprise to trade for some Vulcan criminal she loved who was imprisoned and T-Pring could spring him.
That counselor/captain was portrayed by a newly famous transgendered actor who is also playing a ‘female’ on the “Big Sky” series.
Frankly, after watching 6 episodes of this, Pike comes off as a wussified putz pushed around by his lesser female underlings (they even joke how his official records refer to him as “Boy Scout”). The women are nearly all fugly with bad, bad haircuts (except Nurse Chapel and Spock’s intended T-Pring), and wow! Rebecca Romjin....it took me two episodes to really believe that was her......
I haven’t checked it out yet but I know
1) From seeing him in “Discovery” before I stopped watching it, the guy playing Spock makes Zack Queerto’s (not a bad actor actually) portrayal look like gold.
2) Number 1 is a weird alien and the actress is too old
3) No Dr. Boyce
Have you checked out the latest Orville episodes yet?
I’ve seen that tranny on a show called “Big Sky”.
Apparently some people were fooled into thinking the tranny was an actual woman at first, until they saw the Adam’s apple.
Interesting I haven’t heard from any of the “SNW isn’t woke” crowd on this one. Probably embarrassed to admit they got duped!
>> And canon is preserved. This is Lt. SAM Kirk. <<
Star Trek LIED About Kirk | They Do It ALL THE TIME!
Ahem. You were ALSO saying?
Well, well, well, Alex Kurtzman lied AGAIN with "James T. Kirk WON'T show up in season 1 of SNW" stuff.
You are correct that the character's older brother, SAM Kirk (played by Dan Jeannotte), showed up in the pilot. Not a problem, right? And hey, they even remembered he's got a 'stashe! Kurtzman's learned from his mistakes, right? NOPE! James T. Kirk shows up in the flesh during the season 1 finale (played by Paul Wesley as some skinny soy boy), even though TOS explicitly stated that Kirk had NEVER been on the Enterprise in the Pike era and did NOT meet Pike himself until Kirk was promoted to Captain and assumed command of the Enterprise. So canon goes out the window AGAIN!
>> this is only the pilot episode of Strange New Worlds. They still have plenty of time to woke-it-up and destroy it. <<
Well, Laz, that is ONE prediction you CORRECTLY nailed in this thread. Of course, after seeing the damage from Star Trek Into Darkness, Star Trek Discovery, AND Star Trek Picard, I figured it wasn't a matter of "if" Kurtzman would destroy SNW, but when.
And I will note that all the posters on this thread earlier who claimed the show "felt like TOS" and "isn't woke" and was "faithful to canon", AREN'T back for the END of the season to STILL defend the show.
Hmmmm!
It’s an alternate timeline. One that was nullified by Pike’s actions at the end of the episode. Just a big “what if?”
Star Trek has done this a lot. And it doesn’t destroy continuity.
P.S.- It’s a frigging TV show. Not the New Testament.

If they'd stop lying about just ADMIT its a flat out reboot, I'd have a lot more respect for them!
I for one am greatly disappointed: weak writing, weird hair, confusing characters - the list goes on. And like all the shows now, limited to only 10 episodes; hardly time to develop anything except sell soap.
Real life butch lezbo Melissa Navia (who basically ‘plays’ herself on SNW) and her ‘long term partner’ take to social media to attack William Shanter, after the Shat correctly points out that Gene Roddenberry would be rolling in his grave if he saw “modern” Star Trek.
But, hey, at least its pleasently non-woke and it feels just like TOS!

I'm annoyed there aren't more men on the bridge, there is that.
And so far, they aren't making all sorts of 'woke' points in the ending scenes. So far, for example, the theme to the last episode I watched was: Don't torture a kid, even for a whole society's benefit.
It really feels like TOS. I've been enjoying it.
Now if you want some REAL TOS experiences, go look up Star Trek Continues. There's a bunch of GENUINE old-school episodes.
You didn’t tell me the new Doctor (Who) is black.
Wessel’s was from Voyage Home
You’re right. Good catch!
I wasn't shocked by that, but just recently we've learned that the next Doctor Who will ALSO be gay AND his companion will be a black tranny (played a real life male-to-female transexual, of course). You can't make this stuff up. They've doubled down on the wokeness so much that The Onion couldn't even parody what they're doing.
It's dead, Jim!
Aside from the Real life Tranny with an Adam's apple playing a "non-binary" character on SNW, the "they/them" freak was introduced in the episode by making a statement about much society opresses them. Aside, from that the show itself announced the "special guest star" WEEKS in advance so they could pat themselves on the back for it (even though its not even "groundbreaking" by their OWN standards since STD did the exact SAME gimmick a few months earlier), so given those facts, I have to disagree with your argument that "it's not being shoved down our throats".
But yeah, I guess aside from all THAT, it's not woke.
Well, and also aside from Captain Pike's bridge crew consisting almost ENTIRELY of "strong" feminazi woman characters, including a butch lezbo type with a buzzcut serving as his helsman, it's not woke...
Oh! And aside from the flashback showing Jan. 6th Trump rioters caused World War III, it's not woke...
Also, aside from the "Only real life blind people should play blind characters" talking point from the producers (who then went out of their way to announce on social media that they ONLY auditioned ACTUAL blind actors for the role, no person with normal vision need apply), it's not woke...
And Anson Mount calling out non-existent "racist Star Wars fans" on social media like Twitter, it's not woke...
And previously white character Captain Robert April being race swapped and replaced with a bald bearded grizzled black dude, it's not woke...
And previously white character Lt. Kyle being race swapped and replaced with a gay asian man, it's not woke...
AND finally (although I probably forgot several other examples), previously 100% straight character Nurse Chapel now being "openly bisexual", it's DEFINITELY not woke!
>> It really feels like TOS. I've been enjoying it. <<
I haven't even gotten into the actual NON-woke problems I have with the show supposedly being "like TOS", including the ridiculous haircuts (Pike's pompadour, Spock's weird freakishly long sideburns, etc.), the casting of fugly fake Uhura (who shouldn't even BE at the Enterprise in this time period, most likely she'd still be in Starfleet Academy during the Pike era), and the storyline about horndog Spock lusting after T'Pring, etc., etc. There's no way I can buy any of this taking place in the same universe as TOS. NOPE!
>> Now if you want some REAL TOS experiences, go look up Star Trek Continues. There's a bunch of GENUINE old-school episodes. <<
I've seen STC, very good fan series. But if I want a current TV that is a geninue sucessor to TOS, I'll stick with The Orville, thank you very much. Ironically its also being accused of having "gone woke" this season, but having seen every episode, I can safely say the "non-woke" SNW is still FAR more woke (see all the above examples), than The Orville has ever been, or will ever be.
But hey, have fun with Strange New Haircuts. I've got my Orville! :-)
I wonder if the blind actor ACTUALLY picked out some rainbow colored pin of a Vulcan salute to wear to the premiere, or whether the "non-woke" production team said "Look guys, we need even MORE virtue signaling during our PR blitz. Hmm. QUICK -- Hey Bruce, put this on for the photo-ops at the premiere!"
Show a major disappointment - bad or tepid writing with weak plots
