It’s an alternate timeline. One that was nullified by Pike’s actions at the end of the episode. Just a big “what if?”

Star Trek has done this a lot. And it doesn’t destroy continuity.

P.S.- It’s a frigging TV show. Not the New Testament.

It's not an alternate timeline. According to Kurtzman, Discovery, Picard, and Strange New Worlds are all taking place in the "original timeline" and they are "strictly following canon".

If they'd stop lying about just ADMIT its a flat out reboot, I'd have a lot more respect for them!
