@ChadPergram
1) The Senate tonight takes a procedural vote to launch debate on a $40 billion aid bill for Ukraine.
The Senate tried to get clearance to synch up with the House on the bipartian plan.
2) But Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) unilaterally blocked the bill late last week - despite pleas from his Bluegrass State colleague to approve the measure post-haste, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY.
3) McConnell and three other GOP senators then paid Ukrainian leader Volodomyr Zalenskyy a visit in Kyiv over the weekend.
The House approved this bill 368-57. All noes came from Republicans.
4) Today’s vote needs 60 votes to break Paul’s filibuster to start debate on the bill. If Paul sticks to his guns, the Senate must take another procedural vote - requiring 60 yeas - to terminate a filibuster to wrap up debate.
5) This gambit means the Senate could take all week to approve this measure and align with the House.

Good for Rand but my stomach isn’t strong enough to watch this crapola.
40 billion. To line the pockets of corrupted politicians. Who were the rats in the Republican house that voted yes to this? Where is the EU? Let them cough up the cash!
Yes I was hoping someone else could watch it and post about it
I’ll keep an eye on the votes although we probably know it’s going to be the usual suspects...
> Tonight and this week: Senate to debate $40 billion for Ukraine <
The United States is a debtor nation. So that title should read, “Senate to debate borrowing $40 billion for Ukraine.”
Nobody in DC seems to care about this except Rand Paul.
Just call it the “America Last Act”.
For me it will be interesting to see the size of the vote if it just gets enough or whether it’s a lot more as the senators get caught up in this nonsense.
There could be a few surprises and disappointments ...
True, even more accurate would be “Create from thin air then borrow $40 Billion...”
Makes the inflation situation worse and therefore undermines the GOP’s message.
Rand is going to shame them at the very least (he can’t stop it).
$40 billion is about a quarter of Ukraine’s recent GDP.
I think the Ukranians will get hooked on the easy money pretty quickly.
Lucky for the PTB, they can just keep printing more USD with no repercussions.
That’s no repercussions for the PTB.
The rest of us are going to suffer.
Most Ukrainians will likely never see a penny of this.
would one of the alleged republicans ask where this $40-billion is coming from?
I want complete details of this bill.
As to Pa...I think Kathy will come in dead last...I mean...maybe 10% in the end.
40 billion can remediate issues in a 100 baby formula factories, build a new oil refinery, clean up any coal processing facilities and there would still be change left over for the big guys 10%.
I’d go for it if they collected it from every democrat In America.
$40B going towards the defense the WRONG BORDER.
How much for pork, trans-Jenner-ism, public school grooming programs, promotion of critical racist theory, additional bans on oil production, more EV sales incentives, COVID coverup, ballot box stuffing programs, additional J6 persecution of Trump and his supporters, social media bailouts to fight Truth Social, open border incentives, benefits for invaders crossing the border (new shoes, bus and airline tickets, leftover Soetoro smart phones, baby formula for illegals)?
Asking for a FRen.
My Republican congressman voted for this unaccountable slush fund, much to my surprise my preferred senate candidate voted for it, and I bet my one semi-rational current senator will vote for it despite my message to him opposing it. I have come to the conclusion that I have no real representation in congress. Our primary is May 24th and I have no idea who to vote for in any on the offices.
I told you there will be a few surprises.
Your Rep probably got caught up in the moment and taken leave of his senses like so many of them. All you can do is let them know you’re not happy....
