Elon Musk may just have discovered what is best in life

To crush the enemies of free speech, to see them driven mad before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women, both real and trans.

By the time you read this, you’ll already have known for some time that the Twitter board (probably cowed by the prospect of a breach of fiduciary duty lawsuit should it reject a hugely profitable offer for Twitter shareholders) accepted Elon Musk’s offer to buy Twitter. How the sale ultimately works out remains to be seen. What’s enormously fun, though, is watching the response from leftists.

It is detestable, of course, that we are dependent upon the goodwill of one billionaire to undo the incredible damage that a passel of other billionaires and their neurotic, leftist minions have done to freedom of speech in this country. But it’s telling that these same people are panicking like mad now that Musk is using some of his billions to call them out on their tyrannical sins. It suggests that their hold on power is less stable than we might have thought just one year ago. (It might also just mean that neurotic people will panic over anything.)

Smart, principled people, of course, are grateful that Musk seems to be committed to free speech: (tweets ay link)

They recognize that, when anti-free speech despots control entirely the primary means of communication within a country, freedom is dying. At this point, we can only hope that Musk, who is a genius visionary but also manages to believe in anthropogenic climate change, remains committed to free speech. Currently, he’s making the right noises:

I don’t use twitter, but I hope Elon does not disappoint free speech advocates.

I have never used twatter, fakebook, tiktok etal, but I plan on singing up for both 'Trump's Ministry of Truth' and Musk's Twatter.

I don't know how to use either one, but it can't be that tough.

I hate to admit that I signed up for Twatter last night, for two purposes only:

1. Follow Elon Musk. His posts yesterday are damn' entertaining.

2. To copy my posts from Parler, and post them directly on Kevin McCarthy's Twatter feed to tell him what a milquetoast POS he is on his Twatter account, just as I do on his Parler account.

I expect my "fascination" for Twatter will end today because the UI there is such a mess. I don't consider it intuitive or usable. It was fun while it lasted.

For a long time I laid what was happening at Twitter at the feet of Rasputin Dorsey.

I have since changed my mind.

Amazon didn’t become Amazon because some nerd wanted to sell books. Bezos family history shows the connection.

I think something similar happened with Twitter. Dorsey was forced out. His idea became a monster he couldn’t control.

It is quite possible those same string pullers are allowing Musk to be the face for whatever reason.

That company isn’t worth 44 billion.hedge funds wanted their money out. I know Musk is eccentric but there is some hidden agenda here. It may have to do with Starlink...or maybe the powers that be need to reign in the crazy left

Whatever is happening it is a sight to behold

One thing that sets FR apart from every other forum is it’s “intuitive and useable” UI. It just WORKS. Everything is easy to navigate and read.

Twitter is a mess, I agree.

You should post that on Twitter, and aim it at a few Hollywood folks.

As much as others complain that FR hasn't changed for pretty much decades now (I've been here 24 years) it is quite usable IMO. Easy to find things, follow threads, respond, etc..

FR was "social media" before there was a "social media."

I'll be here 24 years in June. I like it here. That crap-hole called "social media" not so much. We have our own flavor of 'wokeness' here that I don't care for one bit. That flavor of 'woke' that's on Twatter, Fascistbook and elsewhere, feh. They're just canon fodder and too stupid to know it.

The mental breakdown of the left is quite funny, IMO. I've always believed the left to have the mental acuity of a two year old.

They're sure proving me right since Musk took over.

If Twatter does actually become a free speech zone I might sign up just for the pure joy of being able to trigger brain dead libtards.

Radical progressives fear Twitter under Musk will allow Trump back on the platform and create opportunities for right wing disinformation to reach the unwashed masses.

Conservatives hope Twitter under Musk will indeed reinstate Trump and allow for conservative thought to reach the public.

Keeping in mind that the First Amendment only applies to the government, the future for Twitter likely lies somewhere in the middle of the two opposing views.

Musk's political beliefs are unknown. His motivations seem to be promoting himself and succeeding in financial games that only billionaires can play. I think both political spectrums will be disappointed and the only true winner will be Musk's balance sheet.

You can bet that just about everyone has said that word at some point in time....and it did what?? hurt someones feelings? This feelings thing has gotten out of hand.

My 80 year old mother got held up by two ........ And I should be guilty of some kind of crime for using that word. They're the criminals...not me or my mom.

“It is detestable, of course, that we are dependent upon the goodwill of one billionaire…”

Actually, it is instructive. This country was founded on a basis of individual liberty. On such a basis, some will become billionaires while most will drink their lives away. So what. That is liberty.

The US Constitution HAD many bulwarks to protect the liberty of the individual against a fiction of “the will of the people”. The Founders recognized that there was no “People”, just a collection of individuals.

Now, the protections are gone and America is largely the “democracy” that the party in benefit of this change loves to swoon over.

See the benefit of individual liberty in Elon Musk, while you can.
