I admit I saw this elsewhere but I thought it might be a good thing to put here because honestly I look and listen to songs people post. I am always entertained and it opens my mind to many different avenues of musical tastes I have not known before. I hope ones like this column.
Good one.
Stagger Lee/Stagolee was a folk song that was around decades before them. The real incident happened in 1895. LLoyd Price hat a #1 hit with it in 1959.
Harry Chaplin - Taxi
Marty Robbins - El Paso
I narrowed it down to four.
Speaking of sequel songs with a story.

“Telegraph Road” by Dire Straits
The Last Farewell-Roger Whittaker.
I’m going to go with Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Honestly, the first time I ever heard the song, I was 8 years old and we’d just moved to a house that overlooked the St. Lucie River in Stuart.
Stormy, foggy, rainy day, and the chop was high on the water.
The lyrics really hit deep.
ANd I’m not sure if this counts, but I also love Penny Lane by the Beatles.
Like the retelling of Camus's The Stranger in "Killing an Arab".
The Brady Bunch.
“Here’s the story...”
Red Sovine—Big Joe and Phantom 309
One of the most epic lines in any song -- ever.
Frank Zappa:
Joe’s Garage
The Adventures of Greggory Peccary
Billy the Mountain
So many...
RUSH: Red Barchetta, Xanadu, 2112
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer: Pirates, Lucky Man
ASIA: Sole Survivor, Ride Easy
Blue Oyster Cult: Don’t Fear the Reaper, The Marshall Plan
YES: South Side of the Sky
King Crimson: Fallen Angel, Easy Money, One More Red Nightmare
Marine Corps Hymn
Been my favorite since July 1951...
Big Bad John.
The whole Red Headed Stranger album, Willy Nelson
Lynyrd Skynyrd-Gimme three steps.
Bonnie Lass of Anglessy, I live Tempests version, Step it out Mary, Boiled in Leads version is good, Mary Reilly by the Bollox, John Reilly by Grada....
