I’m going to go with Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Honestly, the first time I ever heard the song, I was 8 years old and we’d just moved to a house that overlooked the St. Lucie River in Stuart.
Stormy, foggy, rainy day, and the chop was high on the water.
The lyrics really hit deep.
ANd I’m not sure if this counts, but I also love Penny Lane by the Beatles.
I drove almost the entire length of the Ontario shoreline of Lake Superior years ago. Looking out across the vastness of that open water from Montreal River Harbour on a gray October day was a daunting and humbling experience.
