DUFUR - The headquarters of Azure Standard, the nation’s premier independent distributor of organic and healthy food, was destroyed by fire overnight. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation. The loss of the facility and the impact on companywide operations is being assessed and expected to be limited
and temporary. No other Azure Standard facilities were affected.
Azure Standard founder and CEO David Stelzer issued the following statement: “While the HQ facility is a total loss, and a few product lines will be affected for the short term, other Azure Standard facilities are operating as close to normal as possible. Most importantly, we are grateful no one was injured. Our dedication to providing the highest quality food and products will continue as always. We ask for your patience and prayers as we take steps to adjust and rebuild. We appreciate our Azure community and the many expressions of support we are receiving and will continue to update our vendors and customers as needed. We expect the impact to be short-term, limited in scope and manageable.”
He also added, “For our customers, three primary product groups are affected due to the destroyed automated liquid pour facility, fruit packing facilities and carob products facilities.” He continued, “Because of this, we will experience out-of-stock status for Azure Market oils, honey and vinegars - basically any Azure Market liquid product - as well as our carob products for the short term. We are not yet at fruit harvest, so no immediate impact will be experienced from the loss of our fruit packing facility. None of the products we distribute for our vendors will be affected,” he concluded.
At first I thought Microsoft’s cloud services HQ had gone up in smoke.
Care to tell us where in the world this facility is located?
Dufur, Oregon, which is near the coast and the Washington border.
There sure seem to be a lot of food distribution fires going on.
Yup. And they are keeping that information out of the news cycle.
Food distribution fires

Food distribution fires seemed to start escalating around August of last year. Everything from several large food pantries to food truck warehouses and even a Walmart storage facility. It is like the food pantries were practice runs and now the actual distribution chain is being targeted?
Even doing a search for the incidents turns up very, very little. Again, it may be to squelch public knowledge at this stressful time and shortages.
If you buy Premium, you get data center fire protection.
About 60 miles east of Boring, Oregon.
Yes, 'Boring, Oregon' is a real place.
(Just barely...)
I used to drive there regularly on business.
Pretty drive.
I used to take the scenic route through 'Sublimity'.
Seriously.
'Downlown' Sublimity -
Thank you.
Thank you.
That was my first thought too.
the number of folks in our area that use Azure Standard multiplied by ten in the last two years
no mask mandate
clean food
Gives the food a nice smoky flavor.
I have ordered from Azure Standard for at least 15 or more years, they deliver over much of the country at drop off points. They grow wheat and other grains, have their own mill, and grow a lot of other produce. Run by Seventh Day Adventists. Sometimes their prices are better than stores, sometimes not; but for those who do not live close to stores with organic or natural types of food, it’s good. They have very good raw honey, not expensive by the gallon.
Here’s their website:

Thank you L.J.! I looked at it, but there are not a lot of drop off points near here and you need to be present at a designated time to pick up your order.
(If you do not show to pick up and pay for the purchase they may sell the food off the back of the truck if someone will buy it.)
A person can volunteer to start a drop off point; if enough people local people can be interested. They do have a lot of farm and garden stuff too but I haven’t looked at that lately. They need a minimum $ total order for a drop off point but I don’t know what that is. There are two local points here (about 8 miles away for either) and people buy a lot of stuff. I get an email from Azure with the schedule so we know when to go pick it up.
I just checked, they do have animal feed, they used to have all kinds of natural fertilizers and soil amendments too.
K, thanks, GF.
You’re welcome!
