New Version of footage San Francisco 1906, A Trip Down Market Street, Shot on April 14, 1906, four days before the San Francisco earthquake and fire. From the front of a cable car, a motion picture camera records a trip down Market Street, San Francisco, California, from a point between 8th & 9th Streets, Eastward to the cable car turnaround at the Ferry Building. Please, be aware that colorization colors are not real and fake, colorization was made only for the ambiance and do not represent real historical data. Thanks to Prelinger Archives share the amazing B&W Video Source.

As a young reporter back in the day, I would interview a survivor of the 1906 quake—this was before we had our own quake in 89.

I start laughing out loud when I hear lefty Californians talking about “sustainable development”....

SF could have another “big one” at any time.

Cities on or near major earthquake faults are about as unsustainable as it gets.

Do you see how the horseless carriages were whipping in and out of lanes of travel? The problem is that the human body was not meant to travel at those kinds of speeds. It is dangerous!

No, it’s sound effects added by the person who posted the video. The movie industry was still in its infancy in 1906, and talking pictures were still about 20 years in the future.
