How did they keep the streets so clean?—the horses did their business right in the middle of the road. I felt sorry for the ladies back then, having to cross horse-pooped streets in those long dresses.

Heh... the tech used for this video has only one problem, analogous to what happens in old westerns from Hollywood — the wheel spokes. In many scenes in old Hollywood movies, the wheels appear to be turning backwards. In this video, they appear to not be turning at all, for the most part.

My great-aunt married a survivor of the 1906 San Francisco shake & bake—about 30 years later. By the time I met her she was a widow so I never met him—he died before I was born.
