My organization recently sent out an email announcing its annual “Men’s Forum” and I immediately felt icky about it. To me, it feels different than a women’s forum or an ERG for minorities because it focuses on a group that, historically, is not marginalized. For context, I work in finance which has a history of “the good old boys club.” The email even mentions “men and their allies” which also feels wrong to me.
Ick, yes. What is the event’s mission? Unless it’s to be an ally to women and other marginalized groups in your field or office, what exactly is the need it’s responding to? Affinity groups exist to help demographics that have been systemically marginalized and kept out of spaces controlled by the dominant group. The point is to level the playing field in places where it’s unbalanced and good lord, that’s not men in finance.
If this “Men’s Forum” exists to provide special networking or development opportunities to men, it’s hard to see it as anything other than a hostile response to similar efforts for women and people of color.
Of course. That should be assumed.
HR trap.
MAGA was always about inclusion and everyone having opportunities and winning. Trump understands we aren’t living a zero sum game. More success breeds success. Unity and freedom, bonding as Americans not through identity politics, is an extinction level threat to the Leftists who are about keeping as many as possible on a plantation. As the late Rush Limbaugh said after the 2020 election, the Left seeks unity through fascism.
Personally, I think companies should get tux of all of these divisive little groups. If you must, have groups like Employee Recreation Associations that plan group activities and such without any focus on gender, race, etc.
Like it was in the 80s and 90s.
…get *rid of…
That is total woke bs.
Its called misandry
“The only group institutionally discriminated against in the US today are white males.”
I can’t think of any other society or cultures in history (before the current era) that used the power of the state and other large institutions as hate groups directed at its own founders and creators.
That is one reason why so many white males remain in denial.
Ask A Manager is a forum for overpaid neurotic college-educated women in unproductive office jobs who make their own problems by being unable to separate their feelings from their work.
It unwittingly underscores every argument that ever been made about letting women into certain professional and business positions.
It sounds like someone in her workplace has a sense of humor.
according to former neighbors that were legal immigrants from jamaica and barbados the american white man is to be punished for the atrocities and misery he inflicted upon the native american indians and the black man during the founding and development of our country...
A tranny org?
White men are the most discriminated against in the country.
All affirmative-action laws are aimed at them.
The reason everybody else needs affirmative-action is because they are inferior.
Prove me wrong.
ReEEeeEEEEEEE REE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
OK, you win the thread.
8^)
Maybe she should watch a few commercials and see who is always portrayed as the idiot.
Maybe she should watch more commercials to see if the percentage of white males in the commercials is even close to the percentage of white males in society.
Maybe she should look at whites, particularly white police officers, being convicted of crimes after kangaroo courts.
Maybe she should look at the demographics of mayors, police chiefs, and fire chiefs in major U.S. cities.
I’m sure there are many more examples.
Is this whiner a biologist? If not, she needs to shut up.
