English footballers still 'take the knee' before games in deference to BLM and even Sir Keir Starmer was photographed doing the same in his office at the height of the protests. With those who didn't fall into line risking accusations of racism, few wanted to be thought out of step.
So no wonder three co-founders of the movement might have felt they deserved to celebrate a little as their cause gained widespread attention.
In a video they released on YouTube last year to mark the first anniversary of George Floyd's death at the hands of a white police officer in Minneapolis, the trio - Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Melina Abdullah - toasted each other with champagne.
The mood was jubilant: they were leading a group that had received a jaw-dropping $90million (£69million) in donations in 2020 alone. And yet it hadn't been entirely plain-sailing.
Patrisse Cullors, the movement's co-founder and until last year its executive director, was incensed by criticism she'd received from what she called a 'Right-wing-media machine just leveraging literally all its weight against me, against our movement, against BLM the organisation'.
She added: 'It's because we're powerful, because we are winning. It's because we are threatening the establishment, we're threatening white supremacy.'
She was mainly referring to a 2021 story in the New York Post that revealed how, since the BLM movement took off, she'd spent $3.2million (£2.5million) buying four homes, including three in LA and another in Atlanta, Georgia, with an aircraft hangar.
Cullors insisted she'd paid for the properties with money earned from public speaking and book sales.

More like $1.2+ billion,
There were several FR threads that documented the blm shakedown of US corporations.
He OD'ed
Nope.
USAA insurance alone gave BLM $50 million.
Take a look at The Board at USAA and you’ll understand.
Are people mad about this? I think its great. Better all this money spent on mansions and vacations than actually doing real damage in the hands of a true fanatic.
Floyd died of a fentanyl overdose. I read the autopsy. The prosecution was BS.
anyone... anyone who honestly thought that money would have went to anything even closely resembling something good, is a complete moron.
I need to go insurance shopping.
I will say, one of the reasons I’ve kept USAA bank accounts goes back to the financial crash of 2008. I figured the government wouldn’t let a bank used by a majority of military officers fail. This is worth something. My primary bank is local, but we keep deposits at similar levels at USAA.
But I need to minimize my business there, despite that.
Seriously, you’re right. They could use it for toilet tissue. It wouldn’t bother me. Anything that helps further their cause (whatever that is) will only perpetuate BLM.) It is so good to see that, just as expected, we are dealing with lazy, corrupt degenerates who have always had an affinity for cheating, violence and collecting welfare.
They aren’t going to let any banks of that size fail. That shouldn’t be a concern to anyone—unless you have hundreds of thousands in cash deposited in a checking account. That’s not most people.
Makes a person irritated to see the USAA Brand going into the toilet.
How come when I celebrate the anniversary of George Floyd’s death I’m called a raciss?
There was another article out today the real estate deal was even shadier than this.
The house was sold a few days before this sale for half the price.
So there may have been - MAYBE it seems weird but I don’t know for sure — some kickback scheme?
See here:
Here’s how such a scheme COULD be done:
person A buys house for 3 million
person B then buys the house 2x the price for 6 million using, say, charity money
person A then pays what is commonly referred to as a ‘kickback’ to person B for doing such a ridiculous deal.
NOT saying it happened.
But why would they be paying 2x value of something?
That’s an IRS substance over form issue from the git-go. You don’t have to be a tax accountant to see that.
Questioning is racist.
My local grammar school has an electronic sign that
spouts ‘We believe Black Lives Matter.’
The spooky part is that I believe they do.
Really? I’ve read many articles that said there was no proof. Not that I believed them. I’m simply astounded they would lie so blatantly.
Have you read the autopsy? Looked at the drug levels in the guy’s system?
He couldn’t breathe before a knee was put on him to restrain him.
