Well, there’s some precedent for revoking Oscars. It happened once before with a documentary called “Young Americans” which won in 1969 but was later was determined to be ineligible having been released in theaters before the qualifying period. Obviously, it might be hard to get the statuette back from him, but should could cancel his award like they did for “Young Americans” and declare his runner-up to have won the category.

#7 Part of the “The Wild Wild West” was filmed at the Sepulvada dam area by the little pond they have there in the San Fernando valley. At the time there were railroad tracks and they had the train engine and the car parked there. It was empty shell and they had a gatling gun made out of plastic attached to the train. I saw some other props in another part of the park.
He was not right for the part at all. The villian was also cast wrong and the script was stupid and Will Smith thru in some comments about being black that were out of place. He does this in a few other movies I saw him in.

The Academy just wants him to stay home, hoping that he tunes in next year and boosts their TV viewer ratings, which are totally in the toilet. Every little bit helps.

All Smith did was play himself...a self absorbed minority with an attitude and a chip on both shoulders.
I don’t think Chris Rock has recovered from this event either, but for different reasons. That slap seems to have thrown Chris off his game. It may have shattered his Stage Presence and confidence.
It takes a heck of a lot of courage to stand up on a stage and present yourself as some who’s going to be not just entertaining, but somebody who will make you laugh.
You have to remember your jokes, your tone and your timing.
You have to read the room as well. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear he has decided to go on a Two Year Break.
