Matt Cvetic (Frank Lovejoy), who works in a Pittsburgh steel mill, has been infiltrating the Communist Party for the FBI in Pittsburgh for nine years. During this time he has been unable to tell his family about his dual role, so they assume that he is a genuine believer in Communism and despise him.
Nice to see some other old radio fans here. I’ve posted about I Was A Communist For The FBI a time or two over the last several years too. Everything about the way this show was produced was 100% prescient all these years later. It’s eerily true in every way. I’d love to catch up with other old time radio fans here. There are loads of great podcasts that play these fantastic shows, and if you are not into podcasts and listening to them while out walking, you can find all 10’s of thousands of this show and hundreds of others for free, in the public domain, at archive.org too.

Now the FIB recruits’ people to infiltrate anti-communist groups. Mt, how things change (for the worse).
Watched and recorded movie last night. Pointed out to wife how the tactics of the left never changed. In the old days they carried commie member IDs. Today they have democrat party registrations. In the movie the commie organizers note how they stoked race riots. Nothing changes except today we have too many who don’t care.

Radio is usually in the car. Not like the good old days
when it was constant rock and roll. Now, it’s talk radio, traffic and weather reports. Though unable to be of assistance, certainly would enjoy reading the posts and certainly would request a ping. “The Shadow Knows” :-)
Yes the HUAC! Good flick in that regard is Big Jim McLain with john Wayne and James Arness as HUAC investigators in Hawaii.
Todays Congress would have a HAC, house on American activities committee. The Jan 6th garbage would be done there. That is how far we have fallen.
How do they pay him, giving that the additional income would raise questions? Or is he a pro-bono volunteer?
I read Cvetic’s autobiography when I was a kid, haven’t seen the movie version. He was Slovenian-American. The FBI would not let him tell his wife he was an undercover agent for them and she divorced him.
Watched that when a youngster.

So it’s a movie about democrats.
The part that rang the most true was the organized riots. Kind of like our mostly peaceful protests. Unlike the movie China got thier men into office.

I remember the TV series “I led Three Lives, Citizen, Communist, Counterspy.”
I think it starred Richard Carlson as Herbert Philbrick.
I never understood what they meant by “liquifying.” someone, but it terrified me as a kid.
