Washington Post columnist Megan McArdle blasted the legacy media for its collective dismissal of the Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2020 presidential election.
In a piece published on Saturday, McArdle began by noting what a friend coined was a "growing 'epistemic closure' on the right" that filters out what is reported in the distrusted liberal media.
"This frets the mainstream media. It is our job to provide information, so naturally we worry when so many customers aren’t buying… In fact, we in the mainstream have been so busy denouncing ‘fake news’ that we failed to notice we’re developing a wee disinformation problem of our own - much of which has stemmed, ironically, from our efforts to fight disinformation on the right," McArdle told readers.
She then turned to the New York Post's bombshell reporting about Hunter Biden's laptop, which included emails that implicated his father, then-Democratic nominee Joe Biden, and how the "information gatekeepers scrambled to keep this story from polluting the mainstream’s pristine infoscape" using various tactics like calling the story "Russian disinformation" or a "distraction" to Big Tech's suppression of the report.
"That’s a whole lot of effort to suppress a story that seems to be … true?" McArdle wrote, citing The New York Times' recent report that authenticated the laptop's contents. "One week into the ‘Oops, it was real’ news cycle, I have now heard all the excuses as to why this actually is an instance of journalism and tech moderation working like they should. It was unverified, I’ve heard. Too close to an election. And even if the emails were real, they may have been obtained illegally - can’t have that!"

I beleive that this is among the first examples of meta fake news.
Those in the media who now will even admit it is fake don’t say much about it, but if they do, ... you might notice that they become the “victims” of the the Clinton dossier submitted by Steele and his Russian contacts. They were lied to about it.
Never any reflection by them on Trump as the victim of a smear and how they were wrong to so quickly and persistently to dismissed his claims that it was a great fraud as “allegations”. And the great damage this did to his presidency, and especially the country.
As far as the laptop ... same modus operandi but in the opposite direction. Same with the January 6th fake insurrection, blm, diversity, inclusiveness, equity (D.I.E), the fake America-loving, hidden-agenda, not qualified for the Supreme Court Katanji, and the list goes on and on ... nothing has changed.
The fake media person in the article said “naturally we worry when so many customers aren’t buying...” Interesting choice of words “aren’t buying [it]”. They are reaping the fruits of their lies, deceit, failures to apologize to Trump and all of his supporters and admit to the great damage they did to this country and then change their behavior. FJB and the media. The 4th Estate is dead.

Trump was right ... fake Russian hoax, carried out by Hilliary and Obozo and Xiden with the US givernment ... so now tell me why Trump should be dismissed on 2020 election fraud and rigging out of hand?

Have they reported on it yet? Of course not, deny, deny, deny until proven true and then it is old news.
Hunter’s laptop doesn’t scratch the surface. What about election fraud, racist terrorism, crime, drugs poring through our southern border, corrupt politicians, hate crimes against white Americans, cancel culture...the list is endless.
The problem with liars is that they will do it again and again, even if caught. Even, and especially if they apologize and say they'll never do it again. Because that's a lie, too!
They knowingly lied and gleefully censored information to influence a Presidential election in the direction they wanted, and she frets very mildly that the people who see through their lies might have picked up a talking point about it.

These big media outlets are the public relations arm of the Democrat Party. Now that it has become obvious, a few employees who want to pretend to be journalists are trying to hide that fact.

Media always trying to control the narrative...you are correct...”not ENTIRELY trustworthy”. They are inimical and should be put down. Figurately and financially. I basically ignore everything they present as news.
