Former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) said she is considering a bid to fill the seat vacated last week by Rep. Don Young (R-AK).
Young died on Friday at the age of 88. He was the longest-serving member in the House of Representatives at the time of his death.
Young had held Alaska’s sole seat in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1973. He became Dean of the House following the 2017 retirement of Rep. John Conyers.
Young was asked by the New York Times in 2020 how long he intended to serve in the House. He responded: “God will decide that, or the voters.”
Palin signaled on Monday she is ready to throw her hat into the ring as speculation regarding who will replace Young grows.

Well, she did run with that scum McQueeg. If anything could’ve tarnished her... Of course, even President Trump hasn’t been immune to making some bad endorsements and picks (and Reagan’s ultimate mistake of promoting the Bush family horror).
I forget to remember, that “unity” ticket was illegal under Alaska law.
A bad primary endorsement is one thing but I don’t think Trump has endorsed a *democrat* in recent years.
Speaking of which, chatter is high that he wants to dump Mo Brooks, who in one poll is behind not only the lady that used to blow Shelby but also another candidate, Mike Durant, who is surging.
Kool ...
“As you know I was original fan when freepers outside AK had never heard of her, but I was “over her” a long time ago.”
You had me at “Hello”.
She was indemnified by the State of Alaska. She resigned so the People of Alaska wouldn’t be on the hook for millions in attorney fees and to stop future garbage lawsuits.
No book deal would cover all that.
I don’t recall having read that at the time, but if it were so, that’s all the more reason not to have quit (for her, a second office).
That’s what I thought but the post said “Congress.”
I only saw it once somewhere. You can blame the media for her downfall.
Y’know, the politics of personal destruction and stuff. They will seek and destroy anyone, even someone with no closet skeletons.
It had gotten so bad, some idiot actually moved in next door to her to spy 24/7
Nice conflation, but Lauren Boebert and Lorena Bobbitt are two very different personalities. :)
Unintentional. I'm an old guy, it happens (more and more often)...
One of the KEYS in Alaska for her is what do the younger
generation think or know of her? Will they support her or
will they want someone else?
Why? So she can resign halfway through her term and pursue another reality tv career?
I’m good with this, we have a handful of House members that are really shaking things up, MTG, Jim Jordan, the rep from Colorado, etc.
Good!
Yeah, and we know how quickly the "Voters" knuckle under, plead guilty, and turn on each other, and try to hang on to a few cents of their entire wealth, when a malicious prosecutor targets them using the same "system".
Like the Blue city cesspools, the voters deserve the abuse they get, contrary to Palin.
No question, she got a raw deal. Just IMO should have toughed it out. Even with that (again in my opinion) error, she probably could have recovered sooner if she and her kids weren’t in the news and on reality TV in so many unflattering ways.
Now enough time may have passed and Trig may be enough grown for her to reenter politics. If so, I hope she succeeds and is sworn in to Congress in January.
Didn’t she claim at the time she was resigning so as not to bankrupt her family?
Palin was actually targeted by the Obama White House and NO ONE in the GOP lifted a finger to help her out.
The same GOP stood idly by whilst she was accused of beam accessory to murder during the Gabby Giffords affair in 2011. I really don’t pay attention to the uninformed who criticized her for resigning.
That’s true, but I’m not uninformed and I believe she made a mistake in not finishing out her term.
If you don’t pay attention to me, I can live with that.
Believe it when I see it.
