Former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) said she is considering a bid to fill the seat vacated last week by Rep. Don Young (R-AK).

Young died on Friday at the age of 88. He was the longest-serving member in the House of Representatives at the time of his death.

Young had held Alaska’s sole seat in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1973. He became Dean of the House following the 2017 retirement of Rep. John Conyers.

Young was asked by the New York Times in 2020 how long he intended to serve in the House. He responded: “God will decide that, or the voters.”

Palin signaled on Monday she is ready to throw her hat into the ring as speculation regarding who will replace Young grows.

I've always been of the opinion that Sarah Palin have done a Congressional run and declined John McCain's invitation to be his running mate.

Why that though? Is she actually afraid of Lisa Murkowski?

“vacated”? Is that’s what this is called??? Imagine if they had said that about John Lewis?

Palin is extremely underwhelming and is not at all the serious person I once mistakenly thought she was, squandering a once in a generation opportunity to build up a Conservative grassroots juggernaut like Reagan did in the mid 70’s.

This is a smart move by Palin. The GOP establishment would never support her on a Senate run becauseof Murkowski, and this House seat is an easy pickup. Plus with her experience, she could lead a committee or even be Speaker, which is far more powerful than being a Senator.

Not sure she would get anywhere especially with ranked choice voting.

I doesn’t make any sense since it’s the same exact constituency but a House run for her makes more sense than a Senate run.

Murk can always count on a lot of Alaskan ‘gimmiedats’, Palin not so much.

There is already somebody who is deeply conservative that is running against Murkowski. That person deserves our support as well.

Donald Trump already picked his candidate for US Senate.

Had she just toughed out her term she could have hung on as a real contender. A House seat for her would be great right now.

From my blog:

“Now another story the story of Sarah Palin who became Govenor of Alaska after the corrupt Republican Governor Frank Murkowki (Lisa’s Father) put her on a state energy commission.

Sarah was being exploited by Murkowski who put her on that commission with Republican insider Randy Ruedrich.

He was there to direct her into the corrupt business as usual scheme of using the commission to favor the interests of the energy industry.

Sarah Palin cried “foul” and ended up beating Frank Murkowski in the GOP Primary in 2006 and replacing him as Governor of Alaska.

It’s sad to see Mr. Ruedrich still up there doing the dirty work for the Murkowski Machine in Alaska.

And now you know the rest of the story.”

Yes, the veep thing came too soon for her.

She didn’t yet know the ways of the beltway and allowed herself to be back-stabbed by McCain’s handlers.

Yep. At first I saw Sarah Palin as the next Reagan. Boy, did she disappoint. Much of that was not her fault. But much of it was. Anyway, I wish Palin the best. And having her in Congress would annoy the Left. So I say go for it.

I liked Palin, but she didn’t give a good speech when she endorsed Trump in Iowa. She was right to not support Bolton on Levin’s tv show.

“Not sure she would get anywhere especially with ranked choice voting.”

Bingo. Put a well-funded Trump-hating GOPe type on the ballot and some liberal Democrat and Palin might finish third after the Rigged Choice Voting process is through.

I’m guessing that Nick Begich III will be the next Congressman from Alaska, but with RCV it’s harder to predict than it was before. Maybe after 2022 the voters of Alaska will see how they were fooled by the big-money liberal lobbying campaign which hoodwinked them into narrowly approving RCV in the 2020 election — and then take whatever steps are needed (if it’s even possible) to scrap that Democrat scheme in the future.

I like Nick Begich the younger just wish I had seen him shooting ARs at the range; but Palin has proven herself. Best Governor I've ever seen.

So many of our politicals change soon as elected.

I sat in Nick Begich's dad's house once and he impressed me with his ideas. I met Palin in early 90s across the tracks in Wasilla. Palin earned my trust; proved up time and time again.

funny thing is Donny Young hated Palin I do believe.
