Conservative Christian satire website The Babylon Bee has been suspended by Twitter over a tweet naming transgender US Assistant Secretary of Health Dr Rachel Levine its 'Man of the Year.'
Despite facing the prospect of a permanent ban from the social media platform, where it has 1.3 million followers, the website has struck a defiant tone, refusing to delete the offending tweet targeting the trailblazing government official.
'Truth is not hate speech,' Seth Dillon, the website's CEO, tweeted on Sunday. 'If the cost of telling the truth is the loss of our Twitter account, then so be it.'
On March 15, The Babylon Bee's Twitter account fired off a tweet featuring a link to an article bearing the headline: 'The Babylon Bee’s Man Of The Year Is Rachel Levine.'
It came in response to USA Today's decision to name Levine as one of its women of the year, and as controversy continues to rage over transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.
The story repeatedly used male pronouns to refer to Levine, who identifies as a woman, 'dead-named' her by using her male birth name, and mocked her appearance, describing the senior health official as being 'the first man in that position to dress like a western cultural stereotype of a woman.'
The article continued: 'He is also an admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. What a boss!

Hey, has anyone been able to create an account on truthsocial using a web browser? I cannot even find a log-in link when I go to the page. There’s a thing that says “download” and you can download an app for your smart phone. (?????) When I used to try to visit the page there was a “get on the waiting list” link - when I clicked the link I got a “405” error. Now it just shows something like a home page but there’s no way to go on the site.
The site is apparently working for some. What needs to be done here or what am I doing wrong?

Thanks- that wouli think send a strong message that freedom of speech is more important than twitter or their censorship rules. Twitter doesnt like people that won’t back to them, and it confuses them thatmothers have opinions too- so they lash out with suspensions.
For now, TS is only available on Apple iPhones and there is still a sizable waitlist to get in once you sign up.
I signed up February 20th and was finally let in on Thursday, nearly a month later.
TS is taking a hot of heat for this "slow roll-out" but they are committed to doing this right and do not want to let too many people on at once as that would overwhelm the system and make it unusable for everybody.
It is important to point out that they are still building out their infrastructure and appear to be letting on an average of 20k or more a day. Hopefully that pace will pick up as there are over a million people already looking to get in.
When I got in on Thursday, there were about 550,000 active users. In the four days since, an additional 90,000+ have been added (see my tagline for updates).
My experience so far as been good. The people are friendly and engaged. None of that nastiness so far that infests Twitter. The app works well and additional features are getting built out such as direct messaging and hashtag searches.
People need to be more patient. TS has only been live (in beta mode) for a month. There will be some growing pains for sure but I see this platform with tens of millions of active users in the near future. I look forward to tracking it's growth (check my tagline which I update daily) and seeing it become the premier social media platform.
Twitter has gone way too far in unilaterally and arbitrarily determining what the science is and disallow anyone to challenge or ridicule their version of what the science, usually conforming to their political agenda. Time to tell them they are a platform, not a journal or newspaper, and make them subject to defamation suits if they censor.

Babylon Bee is on Gettr and FReepers post just about every decent piece of satire right here. That works for me.
Their Twitter page is still up. But I don’t see the “Man of the Year” tweet.
