It’s time to make Americans gardeners again.
A concatenation of events is dropping on us like an imploding building and there’s not much we can do to stop it. However, we can mitigate some of the potential damage through our individual efforts and need to get started now.
But first, one bit of good news. H. Douglas Lightfoot and Gerald Ratzer have published a paper, “The Sun Versus CO2 as the Cause of Climate Change Projected to 2050,” that thrashes the IPCC’s global warming model.
However, the paper also kicks off this food shortage discussion. The authors say the earth “is now in the early stages of cooling that might be similar to the Dalton Minimum and last for three or four decades. Average temperatures can drop by up to 1.5 degrees C and increase the rate of crop failures that have already started. It won’t be easy to maintain the benefits of the recent warm phase of the Sun during the upcoming solar minimum.” That’s 2.7 degrees F, and significant.
Lightfoot and Ratzer confirm that we’ve already entered the Modern Grand Solar Minimum (GSM) and that negative impacts on crops are already occurring. We’ve seen harvest shortfalls in a variety of crops around the world over the past couple of seasons. Coupled with these shortfalls, a few countries have limited or halted exports of staple products, mostly grains and legumes.
For two years and continuing until today, there have been interruptions in commodities for sale. A number of factors contribute to this stuttering availability of commercial goods. Labor shortages in picking, packing, processing, and transportation led to gaps on some grocery shelves. Delayed imports of raw materials for canning, bottling, and bagging due to shutdowns in countries of origin will likely continue, especially now that China is locking down

The left loves rationing so don’t expect them to take measures against food shortages.
Rice and beans lentils.
A king’s meal for what is to come.
Turns out, that the planet may actually be cooling.
That means seas are rising and we face a climate crisis.
The solution, of course, is higher taxes, de-industrialization, and a diet of insects.
Just check out your neighbors - look for just a bit plump but relatively fit. Gets you that marbled effect.
i am so screwed
Golden Corral. They never run out of food.
What to do?
Eat less
Weather, fertilizer shortage, and labor will lead to issues.
Note that Argentina just suspended soy bean exports
Based on what I have seen happening in the world these days, those problems are more than likely to be caused by human intervention than weather.
Political corruption has caused more famines that nature.
Argentina suspended soybean exports due to a proposed tariff increase. (Although the 33% crop decrease due to drought did not occur, we still don’t know the exact numbers)
IMHO, there will be food. It will be expensive. (That’s not a bug. It’s a feature)
and when the amount of money on EBT cards won’t buy squat, look out.
Get a couple of chickens, plant a garden, go on a diet.

They will just tell you to be thankful. That’s their new thing
I have posted before about my dad’s research. Professionally he was a carbon research engineer who co-developed the multi-sheet non-carbon paper checks producted by Standard Research Company in Dayton, Ohio.
Dad went back to the dark ages and plotted tempertures and found that in general and in practice that minor temperature changes were found in a 24-28 year upward period and then 24-28 year downward period. So every 48-56 years in general you go from cooling to warming and back to cooling.
In the sixties all the rage was the coming Mini Ice Age until around 1970/72 with the advent of the EPA. It took a few years to get from Global Cooling to Global Warming and by the ninites it was swinging back to cooling again.
The world is in a cooling period and for the next 15 years or so will continue to do so until the warming cycle comes again.
Today we live with climate change because the people who think they are doing science do not understand what they are doing.
Politics has destroyed education, history and polarized everything for political advantage.
In the sixties Star Trek was possible, but today with the liberal political climate humans would kill each other off on a star ship.
Unless the NWO is keeping accurate data somewhere, the world is becoming a dumber place by the day.
The world is in a regressive state in denial of truth and scientific data.
The American Dream now dead, nobody is trying to achieve their OWN potential, but rather navigate the political life we are bound to for their own advantage.
Take all the racial and sexual hiring preferences and educational incentives away and the world can begin to right the dangerous slide into the abyss.
I need to lose some weight anyhow.
I’ve still got plenty of spinach, Swiss chard and collards in my winter garden. I’m going have to harvest it in a few days to make way for Spring planting.
US agriculture runs on diesel fuel. Biden’s energy policies not only raised the price of diesel but could produce shortages. No diesel…no crops planted, harvested or brought to market. The smug liberal elites might drive their Tesla to Whole Foods only to find no tofu on the shelves.
Market prices over time matter, spot prices are News.
The current inventories of last years crop are being held for speculation in a lot of places per US DofAG and CBOE numbers. With actual demand at these prices that stock moves. At this point the demand isnt their for large buyers, they are sitting on raw materials bought with Nov 2021 contracts and should be fine through next Nov.
The spot prices tank at the same time every year unless news is thrown at the market. This year News was thrown at the market, does not mean there is a shortage for NA and EU buyers of foodstuffs.
Over the past few weeks the lines at the local corn elevator has been indicating farmers in my part of the midwest are pushing their speculative bet to the market while there still is time where working on silo internals is not a 130 degree sauna. All those dollars get converted to seed, fertilizer, fuel since Jan - May. That product goes into a big pile that typicaly must go to end user in the next 6 months, or go to ethanol production at a deep discount. Smart market aware farmers bought a contract on fertilzer and fuel, cheap farmers are paying very high prices. Both the cheap and smart farmer provided a supply holdover until spring and won this year.
My local distillery is full up on corn and wheat at a contracted price made last fall by local farmers. They pay for the cleanest and most constant product because it is cheap insurance against shortage. They might buy 90k in corn and wheat a year and sell 5M in liquor products, the markup is 300% over production costs, natural gas is their #1 production cost, the cost of bottles and boiling. Those purchases have been put off until residential NG demand drops like a stone in spring.
