The Eurythmics song “Sweet Dreams” created a nightmare for one Wheel of Fortune contestant on Tuesday. Chris Bryant was well on his way to solving a “song lyrics” puzzle when he mispronounced a word that was completely spelled out.
“Sweet dreams are made of this” was the correct answer, however Bryant pronounced the last word as “these.” While Bryant’s answer was technically incorrect, Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox does appear to pronounce it as “these.” In fact, it rhymes with the final word of the next verse, which is “seas.”
Until I hear Annie Lennox confirm herself that the lyrics are “Sweet dreams are made of THIS”, I will not believe it. Wheel of Fortune ain’t gonna make me think I’ve been hearing those lyrics wrong for almost 40 years. #sweetdreamsaremadeofTHESE pic.twitter.com/pGppkuABpx

Sweet dreams are made of "this?" I was today years old when I learned that "these" isn't the correct lyric. #WheelofFortune

The guy on #WheelOfFortune just said "Sweet Dreams are made of these" to solve the puzzle, and that's exactly what I said too. I could have swore it was "these"!

Today I learned it's "sweet dreams are made of this" not "these."
Anyone else questioning everything they know?#WheelOfFortune

Revved up like a Deuce........As in Little Deuce Coupe............
What happened?.....................
I saw Hendrix, live, point at Noel Redding as he sang the words “…‘scuse me while I kiss this guy”
The published words are “scuse me while I kiss the sky” but he might have just been having a laugh
Hendrix had a great sense of humor.....................
Stand up comic once said...”Difference between a Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune contestant when asked what their hobbies are. Jeopardy: I build brains. Wheel of Fortune: I collect shiny objects”.
She pronounces it halfway between “this” and “these” as “thee-us”. I thought it was “these” until I looked at the lyrics.
i did not know that. thank you.
It’s the Espanol pronunciation where “i” is pronounced “ee”.
“There’s the bathroom on the right”
Scuse me while kiss this guy”
I’ve always thought it was ‘these’.................
That’s the SF version.................
Rhymes with GEESE................

You and me, and Leslie...Groovin’
Difference is these contestants are not professionals. Anyone putting out a song and with questionable grammar is open to criticism. I easily could have got that answer wrong. I have an English degree and also I spring to turn that song off if I hear it so I don’t know the words.
Whether Wheel of Fortune had it right or wrong, the word (and apparently the whole answer) was spelled out. He didn’t have to guess. He just had to read.

"Who am *I* to disagree" with you? Well, I'm afraid I do, stanne. I've always liked "Sweet Dreams" (first heard it coming down I-95 towards Bangor, ME when it was new), as well as "Here Comes the Rain Again". That's why there's chocolate, vanilla, and rocky road.

At least he didn’t say Sweat. So there’s that.
