Florida woman threatens to use gun at elementary school parent-teacher conference

A Florida mom faces a number of charges after police say she brought a gun to a parent-teacher conference an elementary school. Brenzina Jones attended a meeting at Brentwood Elementary School meeting in Miami Gardens Thursday night. Prior to exiting the campus, the 35-year-old mother reportedly warned the security at the front desk of her willingness to protect her child, WSVN reports.

"I don’t play about somebody playing with my kid," said Jones according to court documents by WSVN. "I’ll shoot this [expletive] up.

The documents later noted that Jones "proceeded to open her purse and recklessly display the butt of her gun."

Jones reportedly put the gun back into her purse and then issued "loud verbal threats directed to Brentwood Elementary."

Other parents expressed their disdain for Jones' actions following the incident.

"Just hearing this story is very upsetting to me," one parent, Trinece Coleman, tells WSVN. "I never know what’s on a person’s mind, so even if she didn’t mean it, the fact that the gun was there, and the fact that the words came with the weapon there, it was very alarming."

Jones' teenage son, Marcus Murry Jr. tells WSVN that there was "false communication," between his mom and the security guard.

Brenzina Jones appeared before a judge in bond court on Friday. She currently faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm on school property and assault.

Don’t mess with the moms.

Who was “messing with” her kid? Other kids or teachers just persecuting him, the school board interfering with his education on behalf of the teachers’ union, or on the other hand, perhaps people complaining about her kid’s behavior?

More information would have been helpful.

She’s a dim-witted sociopath. Who cares that she can reproduce?

Then you could make an informed decision and the “elites” don’t like that.

Might as well get the jail cells ready for her spawn.

“More information would have been helpful.”

This article calls it a parent-teacher conference. Another article says it was a meeting with the principal.

Routine versus non-routine.

“Messing with her kid” constitutes a failing grade in the land of the hood rats. This was only the show of force. Next would be the drive-by for not giving Shanequa a “B”.

Who knows, but the odds are good. I just want to know what she was complaining about but judging from the way mama was acting, she probably has a “difficult” child who was disciplined.

I live in Jacksonville, which has a hugely high murder rate...among one demographic only. They have a monument to “murdered children” in one neighborhood, where there is a whole organization devoted to this. It’s always, “my baby was killed”...but he was killed by your neighbor’s “baby,” and in these neighborhoods, the residents are not even allowed by their neighbors to reach out to the police and ask for help because they’ll be “snitchin.” It’s a horrible situation.

Maybe not in her case, but whatever the circumstances, her response was certainly out of line.

When I was teaching in NYC, I had mixed feelings about parent-teacher nights. It was generally the better students' parents who showed up, those parents I least needed to speak with. And that made perfect sense--these were the involved parents, and their efforts were reflected in their kids' better behavior and academic achievement. The attendance at these conferences by the parent-or-guardian (usually not a parent, usually a foster parent, grandparent or even sibling) of the low achieving and/or poorly behaved or non-attending students was sparse.

I would make sure my classroom was tidy, that student work was displayed (I had an "honor wall" for excellent work), and that obscene graffiti was removed from desks (shaving cream worked REALLY well and smelled good, too). I had my Excel spreadsheets ready to show how I derived the kids' grades, and that a tempting plate of cookies was placed on my desk as an icebreaker. Most of the meetings with parents-or-guardians went without incident and hopefully a positive outcome resulted. But there were exceptions, and these almost always involved a black parent-or-guardian crossing the line of respectful behavior toward me. Instead of politely discussing the shortcomings of their student and listening to my suggestions of how they could improve their grade, they would start to bellow various defenses of their student and accusations at me. Other parents waiting their turn were appalled. If a parent was acting out, I would not put up with it and I would politely suggest that they reschedule our conference at a future date when they were feeling better, and usher them out of the classroom. Thank G-d no one pulled a gun on me. These days, I'd be surprised not to hear of this happening frequently.

‘Specially if she recklessly displays her butt.

It’s understandable. The hatred towards school boards and teachers is completely justified but not a gun issue yet.

“proceeded to open her purse and recklessly display the butt of her gun.”

How exactly does one “wrecklessly display” the butt of a gun?

To a Washington Post writer, the mere sight of any part of a gun gives them the vapors.

OK, disconnect here.

Does she have a primary-school age child there?

They only mention her “teenage” son - which usually means high school - unless idiots everywhere are starting to consider “10” to be “teenage”.

Bad behavior, and not shocking about demographic.

But, I have to ask (and this is just like my experiences with COVID “screening”), isn’t it funny that all would be just fine if she had not shown her gun?

She honestly displays her gun and is arrested. If she kept it pat, not telling anyone, she doesn’t get arrested and no one freaks out and makes an article of it.

Conundrum.
