Indeed meatloaf and Bloody Marys.

I don’t eat pizza because I never liked it. Can’t imagine anchovy pizza.

Yes, no onions. The capers and black olives take care of that. And I only use two cloves of garlic in there. Flavor bomb indeed ;^). I make it about once a month. One of my favorites. And its easy on the wallet.

That’s the root of my Worcestershire pronunciation dilemma - syllables!

Since long by ago I thought that maybe, since the English enjoy leaving out syllables, the pronunciation was something like “warshur”, which is the way my Texas family pronounced “washer”.

:-D

humble, what would we do around here without you?

Apparently very little, and that done poorly.

I don’t think HFCS was in the original recipe. Thar crap has ruined everything it’s been used in.

They have weird ways. I had a cousin whose name was ‘Beauchamp’. It was pronounced ‘Beechum’. And the Italian name ‘Taliaferro’ wound up pronounced as ‘Tolliver’.

But according to them, we spell weirdly, so...

(My husband gets around the pronunciation issues surrounding the herb ‘basil’ by calling it ‘Mr. Rathbone’.)

Most likely not. The original recipe is from 1835. :)

Humble strikes me as a beer guy, not a Bloody Mary one.

(But he might be a Barbecue guy, and actually knows something about Worcestershire sauce.)

Cholmondeley becomes Chumly. P. G. Wodehouse used to have fun making up names like Lord Blicester, or the Earl of Towcester.

No one really wants to know. There are probably disgusting things that go into it.

Not a good idea to use French words if you can’t spell them...
