EU parliament votes to sanction Hungary and Poland in midst of Ukraine war — despite both countries welcoming 1.6 million refugees in a fortnight

The European Parliament voted on Thursday morning in favor of imposing sanctions on Hungary and Poland, its two member states that have received the largest number of Ukrainian refugees following the invasion by Russia on Feb. 24.

(snip)

In January 2021, the EU introduced the Rule of Law Conditionality Mechanism which provided a tool whereby the Commission could refuse to release EU funds to national governments who they considered to be in breach of the common rule of law.

In essence, it means that if conservative countries dissent against the liberal European mainstream on how to govern — for example, Hungary’s passing of legislation which prohibited LGBT+ propaganda to be taught in schools or rejects mass immigration — the offending country could be refused access to European funds they are entitled to.

Lemme guess:

Poland is being punished for its refusal on Mig transfer to Ukraine.
Hungary being punished for a number of things, plus being reluctant re: the party line on Ukraine.

I note both countries happen to be the "buffer", with Brussels being some distance away from the action if it occurs.

What a way to make friends, Brussels.

They don’t allow mass migration from muslim countries, and they don’t go for the LGBT stuff. Thats why they are being targeted.

No, they refused to absorb millions of “refugees” from Syria and North Africa, and rejected some of the woke retardedness that they deemed unsuitable for their culture. Considering the behavior of these “refugees” in the rest of Europe, it was a wise decision, so they must be punished.

No,

Most of this stems from Central European nations being Catholic or Eastern Orthodox and not being on bord with the ultra liberal social policies of Brussel.

The issues: immigrants from North Africa and Middle East, LGBTQIA+, abortion, NGO’s and the likes of Soros...

Look at it as Western Europe being Ultra liberal socailly, and Central Europe being a bit more conservative. But the West controls the government and holds the reigns “punishing” all those that do not agree and play along.

The more things change, the more they stay the same: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East%E2%80%93West_Schism

Poland and Hungary are two countries with leaders and people that still possess wisdom, good judgment, and common sense. They also have a senior population that remember the lies and tricks of Marxists.

The EU on the other hand is mostly out of Brussels and they are unwise and often asinine.

I don’t think Poland or Hungary will pay the sanctions and I don’t think they will withdraw. Rather they are sharp enough to see this as part of a Marxist Color Revolution that will play out over time leaving the current crop of EU non-elected nobodies twisting in the wind.
