My dad took me to many Giants games at Candlestick Park during the 60s. I loved seeing Willie Mays in action.
Other than that, I didn't see much of my father. I was raised by my stepfather, and he treated me with love and respect.

Yawn...I'll be getting my baseball fix from my 11YO grandson, when his season starts. He has the same love for the game that I had at his age.
I'm looking forward to next year, they're travelling to Cooperstown for a tournament.
MLB can suck it.

DH is designated hitter—that means pitchers do not have to bat for themselves.

Designated Hitter, where a batter is designated to hit for the pitcher. The American League has had it since 1973, but now the National League has gone to perdition, too.

That may be the dumbest rule of them all.
"Hitters can't hit to all fields, so we're going to make it illegal to position your fielders accordingly. Now you have to play guys on the field in places where a hitter can't hit the ball to save his life."
That's like forcing an NFL team to put two safeties on its own goal line no matter where the ball is placed on the field.

They can kneel during the National Anthem to their heart's content...but I won't be watching. MLB,the NFL,the NBA,etc are all dead to me. I won't be watching now or ever again unless they apologize to veterans and other patriots and forbid being disrespectful to the National Anthem.
I got an email the other day with a link to Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) speaking at CPAC in February. He said something like, "If you haven't been to Arlington National Cemetery, you should go. It contains 400,000 reasons why you should stand your ass up for the National Antherm".

The MLB, the NFL and the NBA etc, are all dead to me. I don’t even watch college sports, anymore.
I watch F-1, IMSA, IndyCars, and WEC racing.

We seen it many times, one team in the League Championship sweeps 4-0, while the other team in the other league goes 7. The team that swept their series sits around for a week or more waiting for the other series to finish. I don't know how often that happens. I think the team with a bye in a playoff round has an advantage just from setting up its starting rotation the way it wants for the next round.
I'll never forget the epic 2004 playoff series between the Yankees and Red Sox. The Yankees were up 3-0 in a best-of-seven series but the Red Sox came back to win it. After the Yankees were up 3-0 I remember telling a co-worker of mine who was a big NYY fan that I didn't think their chances were all that great because of the way the pitching matchups worked out for the last four games. If I remember correctly. the Yankees had wasted their ace on a game early in the series that got rained out, and that made all the difference for the remainder of the series.

Couldn’t care less now.I completely quit on baseball when they went on strike.
It might be worth watching the 1987 and 1991 world series games on youtube sometime though. That would be the only players I'd have heard the names of. I have no clue about anybody playing now.
