A big hoopla was made last June over "Nani's Kitchen" in Rochester NY. The first restaurant to have unionized workers which the owner stupidly praised.
Less than a year later, the business has gone bust permanently. Not to say that the Scamdemic didn't have a role to play as other long standing businesses went bust as well, but this restaurant, serving novelle indian cuisine with an almost exclusively woke clientele went down in flames particularly fast.
Most of the articles have been scrubbed or are behind a paywall (democrat and chronicle)
Instant Karma’s going to get you
Going to knock you right on the head
You better get yourself together
Pretty soon you’re going to be dead
I guess they couldn’t curry favor with the clientele?...........
A unionized restaurant......I’ve never heard of such.
I see what you did there.
Those Buffalo Starbucks that voted to unionize will be allowed to stay upon for a while longer, until the hoopla dies down, then they will be quietly shut-down.
SNORT!!
Nice!

“novelle indian cuisine”
Kinda like Greek......smells like armpit sweat.
The sauce was too rich.
I love to cook, always sort of thought I might like to have a little cafe/restaurant one day. Well, I’ve become “educated” on that subject ... it’s a TON of work and the profit margin is very low .... something like 3% last time I looked into it (some years ago).
For those that want to do it, more power to them & the truly successful ones have ‘figured out’ what works for them. I don’t see “union” anything mixing very well with a restaurant business situation where the owner needs to have a lot of flexibility to make adjustments in what they’re doing to keep their places afloat.
“Union organizers and workers at a Rochester restaurant are declaring victory over workers’ decision to unionize. “
...
“Union leaders say that what is happening at Nani’s Kitchen could be a sign to come at other Rochester-area restaurants, and employees say it could be an especially significant selling point in a tight labor market.
They are also calling on the public to support the decision by rewarding Nani’s with business. “
This Yelp review from one year ago is hilarious:
“The food is AMAZING, affordable and the owner is so warm and kind. First union restaurant in Rochester! Woop woop for ethical thinking!”
Woop woop—bye bye!
;-)
We need a “Right to Work State” labels with an ad campaign to go with it.
“We had to unionize at Nani’s because we already had very good conditions, ...”
You can’t fix stupid.
Closed up in less than a year? Wow.
Too many Chiefs and not enough Indians!
My parents owned a restaurant. It darn near killed the entire family. NOT WORTH IT in most cases. I love to cook too, but I WILL NEVER OPEN A RESTAURANT. I taught school and retired. I WILL NEVER OPEN A SCHOOL OR TUTOR AGAIN. Working with the public or for the government is a prison sentence.
I served my time. I’m done. It ain’t worth it.
While we are here, I think “voluntary” (MANDATORY) Community service required in order to graduate from secondary school is IDIOTIC. I don’t know too many (if any) students who EVER want to “volunteer” in their community after their own prison sentence in school.
You can’t mandate cooperation or service at any level or for any reason.
I’m just mad about Saffron, and Saffrons’s mad about me
Decades ago, a friend thought it would be a good idea to open a restaurant with his mother-in-law as the cook. I helped at the opening.
It lasted a few months.
Incredibly hard work. Especially if you have no experience.
Donovan? IZZAT YOU???................
