Do states have a right to independence, or does the Union have a right to preserve itself against their will?

This issue is much more clearly illustrated when slavery cannot be used as a misdirection or an excuse to deny people their right to independence.

Ever since Hunter Biden left his career in natural gas and energy to become a world-famous artist, the world’s energy supply has been in disarray. We need him back, now!

I think Hunter and the corrupt Biden family are a good part of why this is happening now.

The vacuum left by US strength will be filled.
We were “bullies” that needed to back down.
Time for Europe’s beta cuck males to step up.
Now the world can reap it.

The fact is, both Russia and the Ukraine are member states of the United Nations.

For one to conquer another is a psectaculr violation of the Charter to which they both subscribed.

Putin is just trying to establish buffers for Russia as protection from invasion why Russia is still strong enough to take them.

History tells us that sooner or later someone is going to invade Russia. Usually 2 or 3 times a century.

Flagellating a deceased equine quadruped...

The consequences of this past conflict are still being felt today. In order to resolve a problem, it is important to know how the problem came about in the first place.

"Gay Marriage"? "Abortion is a right"? Banning prayer in Public schools? Creating "anchor babies"?

All this and more was a consequence of the 14th amendment, and *THAT* was a consequence of the Civil War.

It is still with us today, it's just most people don't recognize the signs of it.

I catch flack for this but I don’t care anymore. Lincoln was a tyrant. He was well spoken and could write flowery poetic political speeches, but before the war began no one thought it was a war for union. Union became the battle cry when they need to find a reason to go to war with people they despised. Think about that for one second. Does it make any sense at all to go to war with people you despise so that you can bring them under the umbrella of your federal jurisdiction?

Considering that Ukraine was an independent nation for over 20 years, recognized not only by the rest of the world but by Russia itself, the analogy is ridiculous.

I'm guessing some here would have defender Britain's right to burn down D.C. in the War of 1812....

Lincoln didn’t invade the south. They shot first.

Ukraine. You dumb ass. I’ve been arguing for years that Russia was reasonable to annex Crimea, or support separatists in Luhansk and Donetsk. But Kiev?

For one to conquer another is a psectaculr violation of the Charter to which they both subscribed.

The Declaration of Independence was the charter on which this nation was founded. It declares that people (states) have a right to independence and a right to dissolve an existing government and form another that better suits their interests.

The US violated our own charter in 1861 when we invaded people who wanted independence from the corrupt power of Washington DC.

Ukraine and Russia both left the Soviet Union peacefully 30 years ago thru mutual agreement, which Russia wholeheartedly agreed to at the time. Ukraine didn’t “secede” from Russia last night because they didn’t like the election results, and then fire on Ft. Sumter, leaving “Vladimir Lincoln” with no choice but to stop them. But nice try with the false Confederate analogy.
