His undoing was choosing a special club with a 17-degree loft AND he was jacked up on adrenalin, so when he swung his club, the ball went sailing about 15 yards beyond it’s intended landing spot and rolled into the water. He recovered admirably and finished with composure and grace/skill. THAT was pretty impressive- otherwise he might have just imploded like so many other flashes in the pan. He’ll split a pretty big payout for second or third place with two other pros and earn their respect and gain an immeasurable amount of self-confidence.

The announcers remarked on how unusual it was for a crowd to chant his name even though he was going to finish in a 3-way tie for third place.
