Add gorillas to the list of creatures intimidated by Shaquille O'Neal.
During a recent episode of "The Big Podcast with Shaq," the former NBA big man explained that gorillas freak out when he shows up at zoos and that they want to fight him. Shaq even called an executive from Zoo Miami during the podcast who confirmed the tale.
The conversation came up when Shaq was contemplating whether to let his gray hair grow out, joking that he would be a "silverback" gorilla and not a "silver fox."
This led to Shaq, a huge zoo aficionado, explaining how gorillas act in his presence.
"True story," Shaq said. "I've been to every zoo in the world, and every time I go to the gorilla section, they look at me like, 'Hey man, where your fur at?' For real. For real. That's how they look at me. They also look at me like, 'What am I doing in here and you out there?' And they always go crazy when they see me."
Shaq, who is 7 feet 1, 325 pounds, then called the animal expert Ron Magill, the communications director for Zoo Miami. Magill is also a bit of a "zookeeper to the stars" and a celebrity in his own right.

He can be very funny. Bear grillis had him on for survival show, and Shaq was pretty funny through it all. I don’t like some of his beleifs, but he has been fairly conservative on some issues
At Madame Tussaud’s in Las Vegas they have a life size Shaq underneath a basketball hoop with a ball there. So, everyone can post up against the big guy.

He’s pretty humble as well. He doesn’t want to be a celebrity. He just wants to be Shaq.
Gorillas know leadership and talent when it crosses their radar. Those gorillas should have say at pro sports draft times.

If everyone was like Shaq, there wouldn’t be a “race problem” in America. As a veteran, I’m proud that he credits being brought up in a military family for making him the man his is. You are the man, Shaq.

My cousin worked for a zoo during the late 60s. She took care of the Macaques, but had not gone to the zoo in years. She went with my family to visit again. The oldest macaque just laid on the floor, picking at leaves ,and ignored me and children.
Then when my cousin walked up - the old monkey jumped up, hang on the cage, and talked chattered very excited. He knew her. He was thrilled to see his old friend again.
“No, I knew it was you.”

I had to read that twice to figure out he is seven feet, one inch and three hundred and twenty five pounds and NOT seven feet and one thousand and three hundred and twenty five pounds.
