Experts say the COVID-19 emergency could end this year. What would it look like?

On the cusp of the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the United States is battling back the biggest surge of the virus yet with the omicron variant. Cases, even while receding in some places, are near record levels. And daily deaths, while lower than the peak of last winter, are still averaging more than 2,000 nationwide.

2022 could be the year COVID becomes an endemic disease, meaning it is always circulating within the population but at low rates or causing just seasonal outbreaks.

U.S. can get "sufficient control" over COVID-19 so it "does not disrupt us in society, does not dominate our lives, not prevent us [from doing] the things that we generally do under normal existence."

It will look like mass-starvation.

Win-win!

So when the emergency ends, we can look forward to annual shots, masks, and testing. That’s the “end” of the emergency.

Heck, some places are letting their workers work even if they tested positive because they’re asymptomatic. They can spread their “murderous” germs around because they have no symptoms. That makes sense. smh

— U.S. can get “sufficient control” over COVID-19 so it “does not disrupt us in society, does not dominate our lives, not prevent us [from doing] the things that we generally do under normal existence.”

Covid does none of those things. Government/media overreaction and misreaction does all of them.

Repair is necessary.

More people are getting sick and more people are dying under Biden (with 70 vaccinated) than under Trump (Less than 5% vaccinated)

So of course they no longer want to report the numbers

The covid tests are meaningless. 40% false positives. 30% false negatives. Might as well flip a coin. Heads positive, tails negative. Having a negative test to travel or enter a workplace or whatever is no different than flipping tails.

Omicron will burn itself out within one to two months - not just a wave, but probably completely given how fast it spreads. Biden will give a big speech claiming victory and crediting the “success” to his policies.

We can end it right now by lifting all mask and vaxx mandates.
Anybody who wants to keep their mask on is free to do so.
Anybody who still wants a jab is free to get one.
Anyone who wants to keep their business closed or turn away customers may do so.
Whether you think it's wise or stupid, that's what freedom looks like.

It ended for a lot of us after we flatten the curve two weeks into it. For me it’s been like the bird flu, the swine flu, et al. It’s just harder to ignore.
