you know what is interesting?
when I visit liberal sites like this.. they all seems to know TONS of people who have died from Covid. They always claim they were “trumpers” and unvaxinated, and yet.. when I am here.. I almost NEVER hear conservatives say everyone they know is dropping like flies..
which you would assume conservatives would know and be friends more conservatives than a liberal would.
It’s just odd.
I know many people who have had covid - or at least tested-positive via PRC or home test. the worst I have heard from someone was that it was a bad flu which laid them up for 2 weeks. The young people I know who have had it weren't ill more than 48 hours
That one guy who writes for clownhall.com said between himself and one friend they know “dozens” of people who have died of coronavirus.
My son had a 44-year-old friend, father of 5, who died this week. Was in the hospital at Christmas, ICU by New Year’s. Left five children—15 to 5. Double vaxed and boosted. No co-morbidities. Liked to eat but not obese—healthy.
Concur. I see the same, and it makes no sense.
You know what is odd, I personally know zero people who have died of COVID. And I know a lot of people. I don’t personally know anyone who has been hospitalized either.
they know people who died and they celebrate it.
Of course. Conservatives observe and do their homework and speak the truth. Liberals lie to everyone including themselves. Leftist libs hate conservatives because they know that conservatives are genuine and they themselves are frauds. It must suck to live like that.
I have three cousins who have had COVID but none have died and they’re fairly old, like 85 pushing 90.
Also, a friend of mine’s 93 years old mother tested positive. However, she never developed any symptoms nor did my friend nor did the caretaker.
My wife is unvaccinated but has had it.
So, I agree with you. It is odd.
I know MANY people who have died from COVID. I just don’t come on here and talk about it. I suspect I’m not alone here.
A young man I know who was in his thirties died of COVID a few weeks ago. I had the unfortunate experience of getting the text about it while I was out with a friend who poo-poos all of this COVID stuff. I told her what had happened immediately after receiving the text and I was clearly upset. Her reaction was not, “I’m so sorry,” but she said, “Are you sure it was COVID?” and then “Maybe he was diabetic.” That made me feel *so* much better knowing that he might have been diabetic. He deserved to die if he was diabetic.
Frankly, I’m sick of the nastiness this virus has brought out in people - on ALL sides.
When people are obsessed with noticing a particular thing they become much better at noticing it. Especially when whether or not there was an actual occurrence is open to subjective interpretation. People with a strong narrative fill in gaps of missing evidence with the guesses that they obsessx about and will end up noticing lots of things that aren’t there.
Yep. I live in a small town, 2500 souls more or less. Since all this began two years ago, we are on the scoreboard with 3 "COVID Deaths". Two old men who had already gone to the Big City to enter Hospice care before we had even heard of COVID-19, passed away (SURPRISE!) and were deemed to have had the virus. The third, another old man, suffered a heart attack, was evacuated and died of COVID.
No one in this town has been hospitalized or evacuated for treatment due to the virus.
All this about the Killer Plague is something happening somewhere else to people I don't know. Some people have had flu symptoms. Nothing major. But it looks like half the town is LARPing along with the media narrative.
Population density and the anonymity of big cities...
I suspect a lot of people here are either not socially all that active beyond FR, just don’t want to really “go out and find out” offline, (does take some effort if one is in a smaller family or has fewer friends), or are simply delusional.
“Pockets” of relatively few cases do exist, too.
Try going to neutral sites where political discussion is limited or banned but discussion of “family” and social matters is allowed or even encouraged. You will find a much different picture of COVID than that which appears on FR. :-(
In the group: Relatives, relatives of close friends, close friends of relatives, and various friends and acquaintances of ours, my wife and I have 17 fatalities. One more seems likely but the circumstances are unclear (just how severe was the COVID / was it actually the trigger for the pneumonia?) This does not include other church contacts. (Ie., people our pastors know, prayers for COVID deceased persons we don’t know, and so on.) Nor does it include patients of our PCP or other health care workers we know, unless otherwise “connected” to us as above. Serious cases and / or long COVID (recoveries taking over a month) I’ve lost track of. Over 2 years, this is hardly “everyone dropping like flies”, but, it IS significant. Granted my wife’s family is large, and as we are not spring chickens, most of those we know are age 45+.
