oh deer...
That’s a very impressive jump! He saw the man standing there with a phone, so he left. A fight or flight response.
It looks like a juvenile deer, still somewhat a Fawn, with the white spots showing on his back.
It was not uncommon to see deer and turkeys in our parking lot. One summer afternoon, I went to my car to leave, and there was a doe standing next to the fence. She got spooked by me and, from a standstill, leaped OVER THE FENCE. I think the hooves might have touched the top of the fence at the apex of her jump, but I don't remember for certain. It was quite an impressive display of power.
Iāve seen deer do some acrobatics. Not just high jumps, but also jumping between strands of barbed wire at high speed. Wouldnāt believe if I hadnāt seen it.
Gardeners around here know that some deer can clear an 8 foot fence.
If this was shot in India as the post seemed to indicate, then it's probably an axis deer who's spots never go away.
A bison can.
Usually if I see a flying deer itās just been bounced off the front of a truck onto my car coming the other way.

And thatās why fencing to keep deer out of your garden doesnāt work. Thereās something you can do with peanut butter and fishing line but I forget what it is.
Had a deer jump over the front of my car while I was driving.
It was amazing. Had to be 8 ft into the air!
In a nearby town there is a wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary is about 6-7 miles from from rural land and cordoned off from that rural area by interstate highway and 6+’ chainlink.
At the far end of the sanctuary, in a forested fenced off cloverleaf downtown, there is always a small group of deer hiding. They fly over that fence whenever they want and seem to understand that it doesnt hinder them at all, just you.
We have a 7’ deer farm law, doesnt stop wild visitors or disgruntled residents from coming and going either.
This reminds me of an experience I had on a school bus in East Texas when I was in high school in the 1960’s.
Our bus was traveling on a one lane dirt road out in the country when a deer came bounding across the pasture from the left, cleared a barbed wire fence, cleared the hood of the bus (we almost hit it!), and over the fence on the right side, to land in the right pasture and keep running like the devil was after him.
Impressive hang time even if it was in slo mo.
Have not seen it in person but I have seen the evidence of vanishing deer on highways. In a split second they vanish into a pink mist to escape oncoming semi trucks. The mist stains the road for 100 yards.
Treading water motions helped the Deer to stay afloat longer.
He wasn’t still and passive like a launched cannonball.
