The Biden administration is facing rising pressure from congressional Democrats to ramp up its efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The White House this week announced a flurry of moves, including the purchase of an additional 500 million rapid COVID-19 tests, as well as saying a plan is coming next week to make high quality masks available to the public for free.
But some Democrats and health experts are both pushing for more - and questioning why these actions were not taken months ago, before the current surge fueled by the omicron variant took hold.
Five Democratic senators led by Sen. Jacky Rosen (Nev.) released a letter to the White House on Friday expressing “grave concern” with the state of the pandemic response, saying it had too often been “reactive, rather than proactive.”
“This Administration either knew or should have known that testing shortages were occurring across the country over the past several months, and with the full expectation that the virus would likely mutate into a new variant steps to increase testing access should have happened before the current wave hit, not several weeks into the surge, with resources still not available until later this month or beyond,” the senators wrote.
Meanwhile, Democratic Reps. Don Beyer (Va.), Dina Titus (Nev.), Joe Morelle (N.Y.), and Kaialiʻi Kahele (Hawaii), introduced a bill to require the administration to purchase enough rapid tests so that every American can take two a week for a year.

That’s what the leftist dems want. Compulsory jabs, lockdowns, masks, scan your QR code, quarantine camps.
The problem is many Democrats don’t know what to do except they are nervous and feel like they have to do something in order to stop the tsunami they are facing.
The reality is and no democrats will admit this, nothing can be done except the government should do less, in fact the government should do far less than what they are doing .
If the Democrats do the right thing, they would have to admit their entire response to Covid was wrong and are reversing course.
In no certain order.
Admit Covid is an airborne virus that can’t be stopped. We have to learn to live with it, just like the cold and flu season there will be a Covid season every year.
Admit the vaccines have limited usefulness and continued boosters will never solve the problem.
Masks don’t work.
Lockdowns don’t work.
Restrictions on movement and freedoms don’t work.
Vaccine passports are wrong.
Mandatory vaccines are wrong.
Allow for any repurposed drug to be used in treating Covid, including HCQ and Ivermectin.
Emphasis early treatment and therapeutics
Move on with life.
Democrats will never do any of these things they have boxed themselves into their positions.
They’re also telling biden’s handlers to keep the panic going so election laws can be circumvented in a short 10 months from now.
People who need the tests need them fast.
Let companies like Amazon and FedEx buy the tests and offer next day delivery.
A wait of 8 to 15 days to get a free test from Uncle Joe via the USPS is too long.
A test delayed is effectively a test denied.
