THE PIZZA PARTY:
Recent Stories from abc15.com
How did the pizza doughnut come to be? Owner and Chief Donut Officer Alex McEntire questioned, "pizza goes on a pizza dough, why not a doughnut dough?"
"I had some fun playing around with the cheese and pepperoni! We take our brioche-style dough, which is a nice buttery rich dough on our ring doughnut and then we glaze it with our marinara sauce. We top it with shredded mozzarella pizza blend, some pepperoni, and then we give it a good torch so it is nice and melted."
MAC & CHEESE FRITTER:
"I was trying to make it into a doughnut and then I thought, why not a fritter? Then I can really load it with all of the goodness and cheese! It is your typical fritter. We take our brioche-style dough and load it full of macaroni! It is full of shredded cheese and mac. Then it is glazed with a cheese sauce that is a little sweet but almost like a nacho cheese sauce on top!"
McEntire cautions the Mac & Cheese Fritter is usually only available on the weekends but they are always rotating flavors. To confirm the doughnuts you want to try will be in stock before you jump in the car, she strongly suggests you check out their Instagram first for flavor updates! These special doughnuts are limited to supply so once they are gone, you will have to wait until the next batch!

If most people knew what a traditional pizza was they’d most likely freak out.
I will eat of a traditional pizza any day.
What is a “traditional pizza”?
NO!
The pie topped with tomato sauce, and cheese. Graced with some herbs like basil.
Some areas they might put eggplant slices on. Some places there is no tomato sauce but graced with olive oil instead.
I like the former one.
And there it is!
BTW..the taste of the tomatoes is pure heaven.
A couple of years ago I went to a doughnut shop in Scottsdale called the Donut Bar. They sold massive specialty doughnuts, and it wasn’t hard to spend $6 for a single doughnut. They are closed now, maybe Chin Up is a successor. I suspect even the well-to-do in Scottsdale won’t spend that kind of money more than once.
You mean the one with the sugar and rosewater?
Have to admit, it was tasty!
If you are familiar with Old Town, Alien Donuts has closed. Hurts to lose a landmark store. The town loses more and more character when places like this disappear.
So many places trying to get attention/buzz/publicity with silly ideas like this - How about just making really good food?
Love it.
Sounds great!
When “I” go in and order, I ask tell them what to put on it. They will, and it really does make my wife angry. She likes them loaded.
Good pizza places will do that if you tell them.
Just tell them you want a traditional pizza and tell them what you want on it.
That photo is one.
You notice the tomatoes. Peeled and crushed/sliced.
The sauce goes on thinly, then the tomatoes, then the cheese, and over the top the herbs-basil, etc.
I got nothing against loaded pizzas. But, I am old school so..
That and I grew up around Iron Mountain MI where there are still a whole bunch of Italian places to eat at. And each will make one like they did in the area where they came from.
I wonder why I am getting fat..
Don’t call them donuts.
Uh, no.
