The Vikings are expected to move on from head coach Mike Zimmer this week, league sources said, though longtime general manager Rick Spielman is likely to remain with the organization. Zimmer has been in Minnesota since 2014 and quickly helped turn the franchise around, though he is 7-9 for the second straight year. With one game to play this season, their playoff hopes are gone.

And the Vikings won the last NFL Championship, before the merger.

The loss to Atlanta in the NFC title game was perhaps more damaging than any of the Super Bowl losses. With the exception of Pittsburgh (9-6 in the third quarter but a botched extra point was the turning point), the other three were relative lopsided loses.

Yeah, I think the vikings were like 15-1 that year. The most wins of any team up to that point. When Miami went undefeated, I think the season was 14 games or something like that.

The 15-1 viking team lost ...thanks to a missed field goal by Anderson. The most cursed team in Football I think. The Vikings.

Given it is Minneapolis, there has to be a more relevant name.

How about the "Al-Shabaabs"?

I don’t recall the play but this article details the controversial call which kept the Dolphins unbeaten that season.

“That was the worst call ever,” Lurtsema said. “Without that, they wouldn’t have made history. I’ve told (Griese) that before, ‘I never roughed you, you faker.’ ”

Bring Bud Grant back.

He's still alive and would make the players stand for the anthem.

The Vikings secret was the Met Stadium.

Or, rather, that they installed heaters in the visiting team bench, but not in the home team.

The visiting team would sit in the warm, then go out onto the cold field and do poorly.

The Vikings would dress for the cold, and sit in the cold, and go out onto the cold field and play well.

Any team with an opening should take him. Vegas, Denver (expected). Jax, maybe. A QB whisperer might be better there, unless it is a defensive coach like Zimmer, paired with a wiz O Coordinator. Worked well with Brady and Manning in Mass and Indy.

The 1972 Dolphins may be the most overrated team in NFL history. During the regular season their opponents were a combined 70-122-4, and only 2 of the 14 had winning records.

I believe the Dolphins -- despite being undefeated -- were actually UNDERDOGS in the Super Bowl against Washington (not Minnesota).

The Patriots are 6 wins and 5 losses in the Super Bowl however the Broncos are 3 and 5. Definitely not a winning record in Denver’s case.

Glad you said that. He seems to be one of those “good enough” to win regular season or meaningless games, but until he can beat the Slackers regularly, he is irrelevant. Vikes will always start their year with 2 losses, just like the Lions & Bears.

Zimmer was a good DC in Dallas, but like so many assistants, just isn’t up to the head coaching gig.

You’re right. I think I meant to say that both the Broncos and Patriots had gone on to win the SB.
Must have been my intermittent old timers fooling with me.

Wow...interesting. I do seem to recall the Dolphins saying the Viking game was the key game for them that season.

Keep the GM that gave Kirk Cousins a bunch of money, fire the GM that could get Kirk Cousins to be a better QB than he ever has been. Yup, that’s the Vikings for you.

Yes, that GM needs to go too, but apparently the felon owners, Ziggy Wilf, likes him. Worse owners in Football.

Just like Shitcago Bears head coach Matt Nagy. He'll be gone soon, thankfully.

Been yelling "FIRE NAGY!" at the idiot box since week 4.

Then again, I'm a Green Bay Packers fan living in HELLINOIS so why do I care the Bears still suck?
