There is no evidence currently that COVID-19 vaccines are linked to an increase in sportspeople collapsing or dying due to heart issues such as myocarditis.
Numerous montage videos showing sports stars collapsing or suffering chest pains during matches are circulating on social media (here, here).
One clip shared on Facebook (here) shows several incidents of football players collapsing on the pitch. It also includes news headlines about similar cases from around the world of sport, both professional and amateur.
Another post (here) includes a link to a blog (here) which strongly suggests the incidents are related to COVID-19 vaccines.
Reuters presented the posts to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the British regulator for drugs and vaccines, which said there is currently no supporting evidence to back up such claims.
MHRA chief executive Dr June Raine said: “The MHRA closely monitors the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines, including reports of suspected heart inflammation, myocarditis or pericarditis.
“Myocarditis or pericarditis remains a very rare potential risk with the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, and the events reported are typically mild with individuals usually recovering within a short time with standard treatment and rest. The current evidence does not suggest that sporting exercise is a contributing risk for these very rare events.
“The public’s safety is our top priority. Our advice remains that the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks in the vast majority of people. It is vitally important that people come forward for their vaccination and for their booster doses when invited to do so.

Well. There you go. Old honest Rooters standing straight for the truth. We can all leave any questions to rest now.
Another example of why very few trust the media. They base the conclusion on this statement?
Reuters presented the posts to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the British regulator for drugs and vaccines, which said there is currently no supporting evidence to back up such claims.
So currently means no one has looked into it.
I remember the tobacco industry maintaining that high lung cancer rates among smokers was not proof that smoking caused lung cancer. The head of the lobbying group was some 95 year old chain smoker, and he was quick to use himself as a counter-example. Yet even then regular folks recognized the link.
The Brandon Media has taught us that anything following “fact check” is a lie for The Media Narrative and The Deep State.
I'd be embarrassed, too, if I became a swallower of Reuters kool-aid. A bunch of nutburgers who believe everything the MSM tells to believe have infested FR.
They seem to have forgotten what science is.
They will avoid the first step: question.
Instead they use the Cartman Method.
None are so blind as those that refuse to see.
Reuters has a point.
We needs thousands and thousands of athletes dying over a decade or more to be autopsied before we can conclude anything.
That is how science works...
Except with vaccines—Mengele mass human experimentation is good for them!
Reuters Fact Check: No evidence that Reuters Fact Checks are linked to any actual facts
What would they take as evidence? The syringes still in their arms?
“There is also no evidence that Reuters is capable of accurately reporting anything.”
Agreed, They totally suck,
If there is no evidence of vaxx connected myocarditis why does the child’s vaxx versions have medicine in them to reduce myocarditis.
Deep state gaslighting. Statistical evidence is, indeed, evidence. It’s not conclusive proof, to be sure, but, speaking of statistics, what are the odds that hundreds of excess cases of such collapse occur, by far the majority of which are vaccinated, by random chance? If the odds are less than, say, one in a quadrillion, then one has to start looking a little deeper into the causative hypothesis.
There is also no evidence to support President Trump’s false claims that the election was stollen. But everyone knows that the police shoot completely innocent black people every day for no reason.
If all of these collapsing athletes have had vaxes than that is a starting point.
There is evidence. What would be helpful from the deniers is an analysis that tells us why those numbers are not significant, e.g., they might be consistent with historic numbers or something like that.
Of course—I am just pointing out the mass media double standard as to what constitutes “proof”.
Is something supports their agenda arm waving, pounding the table and name calling equals “proof”.
If is opposes their agenda scientific rigor is required.
Thanks for laying out the facts and letting people decide on what they believe. I detest Reuters fact checkers because they ususally are agenda driven and only choose the sources that support their conclusions. But in this case, their conclusion is partially correct - it is too early to reach a definitive answer and the need for more research is established.
