Bad News: Antibodies against delta strain may not protect against omicron and vice versa – expert
The Daily Sun ^ | 12/05/2021

Antibodies, which are developed after the infection with delta strain of the coronavirus, may not protect from the new omicron strain and vice versa, Director General of the DNKOM Center for Molecular Genetic Studies Andrei Isayev told TASS.

"Big number of mutations means that the virion of this strain structurally differs from virions of other strains - they have different spike proteins. That is why the antibodies developed by those who earlier had suffered from other strains or got vaccinated cannot brace omicron.

That means that there will be no cross-immunity between the omicron and other strains. Accordingly, antibodies that are developed after infection with omicron will not protect against delta - and vice versa. So, COVID-19 can split into two populations: Covid-D and Covid-O, as one evolutionary biologist correctly wrote," he said. Isaev also noted that due to the large number of mutations in the omicron, it is difficult to predict how it will behave in the future.

"The phenomenon is absolutely new," the expert said.

On November 26, a new variant of the coronavirus was identified in South Africa. The World Health Organization (WHO) designated the B.1.1.529 variant as a "Variant of Concern" and assigned it the Greek letter Omicron. In its statement, the WHO noted that "this variant has a large number of mutations, some of which are concerning." Several changes at once in the spike protein can potentially hinder the neutralization of the pathogen by antibodies which may impact the effectiveness of vaccines.

As covid mutates abd becomes less dangerous it will become a seasonal illness like the cold. The bad news is that there will be a huge reluctance for the leftist politicians and bureaucratic state to let go of their power over us.

So, essentially the vaccine doesn’t help against omicron. Boosters won’t help, you need to boost your immune system as naturally as possible.

We cannot vaccinate our way out of this.

It is way past time to look at the alternatives and early interventions.

With so much disinformation as the Swamp tries to protect the Scamdemic from any actual cure I have to question if this study is real or more like Government Climate Science.

The “science” on this stuff is all over the place.

The only thing I believe to be true is that freedom of the individual to make choices is a crucial social value and should not be casually sacrificed out of fear.

Liars lie. The facts demonstrate the opposite. But why let facts get in the way of a good narrative. This article is a good counterpoint to the more scientific ones showing there is both protection against other strains & that while there are mutations that is expected, not totally new.
This is a prime example of fear porn.

First two words of the title tell all. Bad news. That’s what’s wanted.

And of course, as the banner says “true and impartial” -—

My antibodies from having a cold don’t protect me from the next cold either. Covid is now a cold.

OK, I apologize. I found the article you are referring to that refutes this particular one.

TITLE: Backwards compatible? Researchers find silver lining in rise of COVID variant Omicron

[EXCERPT]

South Africa research suggests infection with milder variant protects against more severe variant, while peer-reviewed study finds “robust, cross-reactive and sustained immune responses” from COVID in children.

The rapid spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 worldwide “may have positive implications in terms of decreasing the Covid-19 burden of severe disease,” according to a new study funded by the Gates Foundation and South African, U.S. and U.K. government agencies.

Led by researchers in South Africa, where the variant was first identified, it’s the latest study to suggest the pandemic is approaching endemic status, calling into question the benefits of strict mitigation policies beyond high-risk groups.

The preprint, not yet peer-reviewed, found that the “neutralizing immunity” provided by Omicron infection extended to the Delta variant, which appears to be more “pathogenic” than Omicron and still comprises a substantial proportion of COVID infections in several countries.

It was based on 15 participants, mostly vaccinated, who were tested at a median of four days after symptom onset and again 14 days later. They showed 14.4-fold increased neutralization of subsequent Omicron infection but also 4.4-fold increased neutralization of Delta infection, as determined by antibody response.

Two of the original 15 were later excluded because they did not “detectably neutralize Omicron at either timepoint.”

The results suggest Omicron infection “may result in decreased ability of Delta to re-infect those individuals,” the researchers wrote. If the new variant is indeed less severe, “the infection may shift to become less disruptive to individuals and society.”

Beyond South African institutions, the 30-odd researchers in the study are affiliated with Columbia University, the University of Washington and Imperial College London.

The enhanced immunity to Delta was “especially” strong for vaccinated participants, tweeted lead author Alex Sigal, who is affiliated with the Africa Health Research Institute, University of KwaZulu-Natal and Germany’s Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology.

Commenters on his tweet thread debated whether it was a good idea to publish results based on such a small study population.

I had delta, it was like the flu. Two months later omicron went through the family very quickly. We were all over it in a few days, like a mild cold. Natural antibodies.

A good observation.

One can imagine the continuing demand to “test, test, test,” as the WHO urged in April of 2020, which is fabulous marketing for products and product manufacturers. Test, test, test, because you can never be certain without a test.

And after yesterday's test, you'll need today's because you can never be too safe. Apropos of tests, one notices in the article to which you linked, the tests are also under EUA shielding, so a false positive or a false negative..... One also notices the confluence of two words with legal significance: the tests "have received EUA approval." "Emergency use authorization" is not legally "approval" until the liability shield is withdrawn and harm, if it occurs, can be redressed in civil court. Clever, eh? Thanks.

“may”

This is how it works....

If the theory or evidence or speculation seems to indicate that things could possibly be bad and we need more government to protect us and everyone should live in fear.... they use the word “MAY”.

Like this....

“Children MAY be seriously effected by the virus.”
“You MAY be able to get COVID twice.”
‘You MAY be able to transmit it asymptomatically.”
“Masks MAY help stop the spread even though we now know the virus is aerosolized.”

On the other hand, if the theory or evidence or speculation seems to indicate that things aren’t that bad and we don’t need or shouldn’t trust the government....they use the term “IS NOT FULLY PROVEN”

Like this....

“It is not fully proven that Ivermectin helps.”
“It is not fully proven that the vaccines cause injuries.”
“It is not fully proven that the virus was created in Wuhan with US government funding.”
“It is not fully proven that T cells and B cells will protect you for years.”
