An employee at Tammy’s Nails 2 in Tampa cut Clara Shellman’s foot during a pedicure in September 2018, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The cut became infected and spread quickly, partly because Shellman had severe peripheral arterial disease, a circulatory condition that causes narrowed blood vessels to reduce blood flow to the limbs, the newspaper said.
Shellman, 55, lost her home after being burdened by medical expenses from the amputation, the newspaper quoted her lawyer, Paul Fulmer, as saying. She needed help caring for herself and now is living with relatives, Fulmer said.

Probably a nice dark fall red by OPI. Or maybe a maroon? Something for the holiday!

Quick check reveals nail salons in Fla only get inspected once every 2 years at best.
Looks like thats the real root cause.

Here in NYS, they are mandated to have a filtering system for the dust that vacuums it away at each station. Law doesn’t say anything about having it running which I imagine would blow up their electric bill. Most salons have it off.

It really doesn’t matter on either side of this, really. What matters is the Nail Salon’s INSURANCE and the value of the store. I’m guessing that it is iffy on actually getting the money...

I feel sorry for the woman’s loss of her leg, but a manicurist is not a podiatrist...

Shellman had severe peripheral arterial disease, a circulatory condition that causes narrowed blood vessels to reduce blood flow to the limbs Not relevant to the lawsuit, but PAD is quite common in those with obesity and diabetes.

facts would be nice. How long did it take for situation to get serious? Assuming she knew she had PAD, was she warned by doctor to be especially cautious about infections? Was her delaying to get timely medical care a factor?
