Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is having a good evening. This is, I think, the tenth edition of the annual thread dedicated to those among us who, for whatever reason, find ourselves solo on the night before Christmas.
Here in my cozy habitat, it's just me, my faithful hound and, a little later, Ralphie Parker and then George Bailey will make his yearly appearance.
The presents are wrapped and under the tree. After dinner, I'll imbibe a latte and then maybe a little vino.
Anyone else solo tonight?
Just myself, my wife, 2 cats and 2 dogs and a warm fire. Perfect. Merry Christmas 🎄
Tonight, after I get home from work, will be a glass of eggnog with a little rum, something light to eat, perhaps 'A Christmas Carol' on the internet, and off to bed.
Unfortunately, with my job, I only found out at noon today, that I had Saturday and Sunday off. Since the CCP-Coronavirus CONdemic started, I've had to work every Sunday and have been unable to get to church, I see BAD changes to my personality. Tomorrow, I'll call a great number of relatives and friends, cook a nice Christmas ham dinner (making soup out of leftovers), and listen to Messiah. Boxing Day, Sunday, I'll finally be able to get to church! THAT is the highlight for me, this Christmas! Never forget the 'Reason for the Season', Jesus, who will return VERY soon! Me, my wife and our little doggie tonight. We went snow shoeing in a real blizzard on Schweitzer Mountain yesterday with our daughter, her fiancĂ© and his mom. They came over last night and we had a great dinner and played games, then this morning opened presents a day early because the kids have obligations with their others’ families. Our older daughter and her fiancĂ© joined via Zoom this morning to open presents. We just got back from snow shoeing on the golf course where we ran into a lot of friends and their doggies; we spent an hour wishing everybody Merry Christmas and chatting in the crisp air, heavily snowed fairways, and light snow falling. Back at the house now sipping Cabernet and listening to Sally Harmon play “Christmas Time is Here” on the piano now with the fire going. Just can’t beat Christmas, friends, snow, good times, and the outdoors.

God bless the people that HAVE to work tonight and tomorrow. Healthcare workers, first responders and servicemen and women come to mind. It’s not like being in solitude but it can sure feel lonely sometimes.
For years I had to wake up early on Christmas and round. My children couldn’t open their presents until noon or 1, not that they really minded. They got so used to it, when I got cross-coverage and didn’t have to work on Christmas, they thought it was weird to have the presents opened by 10AM.

Yep. The kids are away this Christmas so I am solo. I’ll catch up with them and others in a couple of weeks.

I live in a house with three other members of my family. Each seem to be disposed to go into their own rooms, close the door, and usually pursue online gaming or something. Effectively, I’m by myself.
Ugh. I had food poisoning long ago. It was awful. Hope you feel better soon.

My best friend in Jackson Miss was supposed to come up to hang with us in middle Tennessee but he’s got Covid residual and ain’t up to it...
